Installation of the RAT Stowed Switch

WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Make sure that the left main gear door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(5) Make sure that the access door 195BB is open.
(6) Make sure that the access panel 147BB is open.
(7) Make sure that the access panel 147CB is open.
(8) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
(10) Make sure that the RAT is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).
(11) Make sure that the protective cover of the RAT compartment is removed.
Subtask 29-22-53-865-089-A WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002). (2) Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Make sure that the left main gear door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(5) Make sure that the access door 195BB is open.
(6) Make sure that the access panel 147BB is open.
(7) Make sure that the access panel 147CB is open.
(8) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system:
- in the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel,
- on the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.
(10) Make sure that the RAT is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).
(11) Make sure that the protective cover of the RAT compartment is removed.
B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

A. Installation of the RAT Stowed Switch
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Remove the blanking cap from the port of the RAT actuator (8).
(4) Remove the protective cap from the electrical connector of the stowed switch (6).
(5) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(6) Install and adjust the stowed switch (6) as given in the subsequent steps:
(a) Make sure that the RAT actuator (8) is fully extended.
(b) Prepare the component interface:
1 Apply Mineral Oil base Grease-Anti-seize Lithium Thickened System (Material No.03FCC2) on the threads of the stowed switch (6).
(c) Install the nut (9) and the washer (10) on the stowed switch (6).
(d) Install an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE between the pins B and C of the electrical connector of the stowed switch (6).
(e) Install the stowed switch (6) in the RAT actuator (8) until no continuity is shown on the ohmmeter.
(f) Tighten the stowed switch (6).
(g) Remove the ohmmeter, remove the protective cap from the electical connector (7) and connect the connector (7) to the stowed switch (6).
(h) Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
2801GE, 2803GE, 6XE.
(j) Install the RAT safety device (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-860-007).
(k) Remove the electrical connector (7) from the stowed switch (6) and install the ohmmeter between the pins B and C of the stowed switch (6).
(l) Turn the stowed switch (6) into the RAT actuator (8) until no continuity is shown on the ohmmeter.
(m) Turn the stowed switch (6) out of the RAT actuator (8) until continuity is shown on the ohmmeter. Turn the stowed switch (6) between 90 degrees and 180 degrees (maximum) more in the same direction, until the locking tooth of the stowed switch engages in the hole on the RAT actuator.
(n) Remove the ohmmeter and connect the connector (7) to the stowed switch (6).
(7) TORQUE the nut (9) of the stowed switch (6) to between 0.678 and 0.565 m.daN (60.00 and 50.00 lbf.in )

(8) Installation of the lockwire:

(h) Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
2801GE, 2803GE, 6XE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE RAT TRAVEL RANGE IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU EXTEND/RETRACT THE RAT.
(i) Retract the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-006). (j) Install the RAT safety device (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-860-007).
(k) Remove the electrical connector (7) from the stowed switch (6) and install the ohmmeter between the pins B and C of the stowed switch (6).
(l) Turn the stowed switch (6) into the RAT actuator (8) until no continuity is shown on the ohmmeter.
(m) Turn the stowed switch (6) out of the RAT actuator (8) until continuity is shown on the ohmmeter. Turn the stowed switch (6) between 90 degrees and 180 degrees (maximum) more in the same direction, until the locking tooth of the stowed switch engages in the hole on the RAT actuator.
(n) Remove the ohmmeter and connect the connector (7) to the stowed switch (6).
(7) TORQUE the nut (9) of the stowed switch (6) to between 0.678 and 0.565 m.daN (60.00 and 50.00 lbf.in )
. (8) Installation of the lockwire:
WARNING:
USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Safety the nut (9) with the nearest bolt of the RAT with B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) closed:

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Pressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(3) Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-003).
(4) Examine the connection of the stowed switch (6) and the RAT actuator (8) and make sure that there is no leak.
(5) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
Subtask 29-22-53-710-065-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Pressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(3) Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-003).
(4) Examine the connection of the stowed switch (6) and the RAT actuator (8) and make sure that there is no leak.
(5) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
D. Test
(1) Remove the RAT safety device (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-860-008).
(2) Do the operational test of the manual deployment and the retraction of the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-710-007).
(3) Make sure that the RAT stowed light on the RAT ground control panel 3GE operates correctly during the test.
5. Close-up(1) Remove the RAT safety device (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-860-008).
(2) Do the operational test of the manual deployment and the retraction of the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-710-007).
(3) Make sure that the RAT stowed light on the RAT ground control panel 3GE operates correctly during the test.
Subtask 29-22-53-410-064-A
A. Close Access
(1) Put the protective cover (1) in the correct installation position over the deployment solenoids.
(a) Tighten the screws (2) in the quick release fasteners (3).
(b) Install the screw (5) in the protective cover (1).
(2) Install the access panels 147BB 147CB.
(3) Close the main gear door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(4) Close the access door 195BB.
(5) Remove the safety barriers.
(6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Put the protective cover (1) in the correct installation position over the deployment solenoids.
(a) Tighten the screws (2) in the quick release fasteners (3).
(b) Install the screw (5) in the protective cover (1).
(2) Install the access panels 147BB 147CB.
(3) Close the main gear door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(4) Close the access door 195BB.
(5) Remove the safety barriers.
(6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
