B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate this pushbutton switch.
   (2) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • On the HYD section of panel 40VU
  • On access door 198CB, on the ground-service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position on access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system.
   (4) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Make sure that the thrust-reverser cowl-door are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-49-420-112-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Hydraulic Case Drain Tubes and Hoses
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (4) Make sure that the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is in position below the hydraulic connections.
   (5) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (6) If necessary, do the installation of the two unions (23) on the hydraulic filter:
(sheet 9/10 - detail N).
     (a) Install the two new AIPC 29-11-86-20-230 SEAL (24) on the two unions (23).
     (b) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.
PU6-0003) to the threads of the unions (23).
     (c) Install the two unions (23) on the hydraulic filter.
     (d) TORQUE the unions (23) to between 164 and 154 lbf.in (1.85 and 1.74 m.daN ) T.
   (7) If necessary, install the bulkhead fitting (14) on the firewall:
(sheet 4/10 - detail E).
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the bulkhead fitting (14).
     (b) Install the bulkhead fitting (14) on the firewall bulkhead with the fitting nut (12) and two washers (13).
     (c) TORQUE the fitting nut (12) to between 315 and 300 lbf.in (3.56 and 3.39 m.daN ) T.
   (8) If necessary, install the elbow (27) to the pylon:
(sheet 10/10 - detail Q).
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the elbow (27).
     (b) Attach the elbow (27) to the pylon interface.
     (c) TORQUE the elbow (27) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
   (9) Installation of the pylon case drain tube (25) and pylon case drain hose (26):
(sheet 10/10 - details P and Q) and (sheet 9/10 - detail N).
     (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the pylon case drain hose (26) nuts.
     (b) Connect the pylon case drain hose (26) to the elbow (27) on the pylon:
       1 Do not torque the pylon case drain hose (26) nut at this time.
     (c) Connect the pylon drain tube (25) to the pylon case drain hose (26) and the union (23) on the hydraulic filter:
       1 Do not torque the pylon case drain hose (26) or the pylon case drain tube (25) nuts at this time.
     (d) Put the three clamps (10) on the pylon case drain tube (25).
     (e) Attach the pylon case drain tube (25) and the three clamps (10) to the three case drain brackets on the engine case. Use the three bolts (19) and three washers (20):
       1 Do not torque the bolts (19) at this time.
     (f) Adjustment of the pylon case drain hose (26) and pylon case drain tube (25) to keep preload to a minimum:
       1 Make sure that there are no kinks in the pylon case drain hose (26) and pylon case drain tube (25).
       2 Make sure that the pylon case drain hose (26) and the elbow (27) are correctly aligned.
     (g) TORQUE the pylon case drain hose (26) nuts to between 250 and 210 lbf.in (2.83 and 2.37 m.daN ) T.
     (h) Hold the union (23) on the hydraulic filter with an applicable WRENCH - STANDARD.
     (i) TORQUE the pylon case drain tube (25) nut to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
     (j) TORQUE the three bolts (19) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
T.
   (10) Installation of the hydraulic case drain hose (1):
(sheet 2/10 - detail B) and (sheet 3/10 - detail C).
     (a) Connect the hydraulic pump case drain hose (1) to the elbow on the hydraulic pump:
       1 Do not torque the hydraulic case drain hose (1) nut at this time.
     (b) Apply the three layers of the PU1-0012tape, thermosetting to the gearbox case drain tube (7).
     (c) Connect the gearbox case drain tube (7) to the hydraulic case drain hose (1):
       1 Do not torque the hydraulic case drain hose (1) nut at this time.
   (11) Installation of the lower bifurcation case drain tube (11):
(sheet 4/10 - details D and E) and (sheet 3/10 - detail C).
     (a) Remove the two bolts from the two line block frames and open the line block frames.
     (b) Put the lower bifurcation case drain tube (11) in the two line blocks.
     (c) Close the two line block frames and install the two bolts:
       1 Do not torque the bolts at this time.
     (d) Connect the lower bifurcation case drain tube (11) to the gearbox case drain tube (7) and the bulkhead fitting (14) on the firewall bulkhead:
       1 Do not torque the gearbox case drain tube (7) and lower bifurcation case drain tube (11) nuts at this time.
   (12) Installation of the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15):
(sheet 7/10 - detail K) and (sheet 4/10 - detail E).
     (a) Connect the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) to the bulkhead fitting (14) on the firewall bulkhead:
       1 Do not torque the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) nut at this time.
     (b) Connect the filter case drain tube (21) to the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15):
       1 Do not torque the filter case drain tube (21) nut at this time.
   (13) Installation of the filter case drain tube (22):
(sheet 9/10 - detail N) and (sheet 7/10 - detail K).
     (a) Connect the filter case drain tube (22) to the filter case drain tube (21) and the union (23) on the hydraulic filter:
       1 Do not torque the filter case drain tube (22) nuts at this time.
   (14) Installation of the gearbox case drain tube (7):
(sheet 3/10 - detail C) and (sheet 2/10 - detail B).
     (a) Put the two clamps (10) on the gearbox case drain tube (7).
     (b) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) to the threads of the two bolts (8).
     (c) Attach the clamp (10) and the gearbox case drain tube (7) to the hydraulic accessory gearbox with the bolt (8) and washer (9):
       1 Do not torque the bolt (8) at this time.
     (d) Attach the clamp (10) and the gearbox case drain tube (7) to the angled gearbox with the bolt (8) and washer (9):
       1 Do not torque the bolt (8) at this time.
   (15) Installation of the clamps (10) on the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15):
(sheet 5/10 - details F and G) and (sheet 6/10 - detail H).
     (a) Put the three clamps (10) on the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15).
     (b) Attach the two clamps (10) and the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) to the bracket and case drain bracket. Use the two bolts (16), four washers (17) and two nuts (18):
       1 Do not torque the nuts (18) at this time.
     (c) Attach the clamp (10) and the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) to the bracket. Use the bolt (19) and washer (20).
   (16) Installation of the clamps (10) on the filter case drain tube (21):
(sheet 6/10 - detail J) and (sheet 8/10 - details L and M).
     (a) Put the four clamps (10) on the filter case drain tube (21).
     (b) Attach the four clamps (10) and the filter case drain tube (21) to the brackets and case drain brackets. Use the four bolts (19) and four washers (20):
       1 Do not torque the bolts (19) at this time.
   (17) Installation of the clamps (10) on the filter case drain tube (22):
(sheet 9/10 - detail N).
     (a) Put the two clamps (10) on the filter case drain tube (22).
     (b) Attach the two clamps (10) and the filter case drain tube (22) to the case drain bracket and filter case drain bracket. Use the two bolts (19) and two washers (20):
       1 Do not torque the bolts (19) at this time.
   (18) Adjustment of the hydraulic pump case drain hose (1), gearbox case drain tube (7), lower bifurcation case drain tube (11), fan bulkhead case drain tube (15), filter case drain tube (21) and filter case drain tube (22) to keep preload to a minimum:
     (a) Make sure that there are no kinks in the hydraulic case drain tubes and hose.
     (b) Make sure the hydraulic pump case drain hose (1) correctly aligns with the elbows.
   (19) TORQUE the hydraulic case drain hose (1) nuts to between 250 and 210 lbf.in (2.83 and 2.37 m.daN ) T.
   (20) TORQUE the gearbox case drain tube (7) nut to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
   (21) TORQUE the lower bifurcation case drain tube (11) nut to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
   (22) TORQUE the fan bulkhead case drain tube (15) nut to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
   (23) TORQUE the filter case drain tube (21) nut to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
   (24) TORQUE the filter case drain tube (22) nut at the filter case drain tube (21) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
   (25) Hold the union (23) with an applicable WRENCH - STANDARD.
   (26) TORQUE the filter case drain tube (22) elbow to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
T.
   (27) TORQUE the bolts (8) to between 27 and 24.3 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )
T.
   (28) TORQUE the nuts (18) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN )
T.
   (29) TORQUE the bolts (19) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
T.
   (30) Apply PU5-0015lubricant, paste or equivalent to the threads of the bolts on the two line block frames.
   (31) TORQUE the bolts on the two line block frames to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
   (32) Apply the torque stripes:
     (a) Clean the surfaces of the two unions (23) and the adjacent surfaces with a clean cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) . Clean until you remove all the contamination you can see.
     (b) Clean the surfaces of the bulkhead fitting (14), fitting nut (12), and the adjacent surfaces with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) . Clean until you remove all the contamination you can see.
     (c) Clean the coupling nut surfaces of all the tubes (7), (11), (15), (21), (22) and (25), and the adjacent surfaces with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) . Clean until you remove all the contamination you can see.
     (d) Clean the coupling nut surfaces of the hoses (1) and (26), and the adjacent surfaces with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) . Clean until you remove all the contamination you can see.
     (e) Clean the coupling nut surfaces of the elbow (27) and the adjacent surfaces with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) . Clean until you remove all the contamination you can see.
     (f) Clean all the surfaces again with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) . Remove acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) with a cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) becomes dry.
     (g) Clean all the surfaces one more time with a dry clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
     (h) Paint a torque stripe on the two unions (23), the coupling nuts of the tubes (25) and (22), and the adjacent surfaces with the Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.04SAB2) .
     (i) Paint a torque stripe on the bulkhead fitting (14), fitting nut (12), the coupling nuts of the tubes (11) and (15), and the adjacent surface with the Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.04SAB2) .
     (j) Paint a torque stripe on the coupling nuts of the tubes and hoses (1), (7), (11), (15), (21), (22), (25), and (26), and the adjacent surfaces with the Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.04SAB2) .
     (k) Paint a torque stripe on the elbow (27), coupling nut of the pylon case drain hose (26) and the adjacent surfaces with the Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.04SAB2) .
   (33) Install the firewall covers.

B. Operational Test
   (1) Do the operational test of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002).
   (2) After the dry-motoring, make sure that there were no leaks from the hydraulic connections.
   (3) Make sure that the level of the hydraulic fluid in the Yellow reservoir is correct. If necessary, fill the reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
5. Close-up

   (1) Remove the container.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Close the thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (1) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
