Installation of the Engine 2 Yellow Hydraulic Pump Delivery Check Valve


WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-36-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
   (5) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that the fan-cowl door is open.
Subtask 29-13-36-941-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the hydraulic tube connection to collect the remaining fluid.
Subtask 29-13-36-860-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
   (5) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine.
   (6) Make sure that the left fan-cowl door 447AL is open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
Subtask 29-13-36-941-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the ENG 2 switch is in the OFF position
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 2 shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the HYD section of the panel 40VU.
   (4) On the ENG section of the panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC/GND/PWR 2 pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC system.
   (6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the check valve.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-36-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Check Valve
   (1) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new O-ring (3).
   (2) Install the AIPC 29-13-06-01-060 O-RING (3) on the check valve (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-29-00-911-002).
   (3) Remove the blanking plug from the panel (4).
   (4) Install the check valve (1) on the panel (4).
   (5) TORQUE the check valve (1) to between 13 and 12 m.daN (95.87 and 88.50 lbf.ft ) T.
   (6) Remove the blanking plug from the disconnected hose (2).
   (7) Connect the hose (2) to the check valve (1).
   (8) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 10.7 and 9.7 m.daN (78.91 and 71.53 lbf.ft )

Subtask 29-13-36-710-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Operational Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the Yellow hydraulic system (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002).
   (2) After the dry-motoring, make sure that there were no leaks from the check valve (1).
   (3) Make sure that the level of hydraulic fluid in the Yellow reservoir is correct. If necessary, fill the reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-36-942-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the container.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
Subtask 29-13-36-942-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Do the EIS stop procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the container.
   (5) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (6) Remove the access platform(s).

B. Close Access
   (1) Close the left fan-cowl door 447AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040).
   (2) Close the door 195BB.
