A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) In the cockpit, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the flaps are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control-lever.
   (3) Make sure that the Nos 2, 3, 4 and 5 spoilers are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (4) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the piston rod of the servo-control.
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position below the applicable zone.
   (6) Make sure that the access panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004):
   (7) Make sure that the No. 3 Flap Track movable fairings is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001).
   (8) Make sure that the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT is installed on the torque shafts each side of the Track 3 actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
   (9) Make sure that the Track 3 actuator is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-49-000-003).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the flaps are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control-lever.
   (3) Make sure that the No 2, 3, 4 and 5 spoilers are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002)
   (4) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the piston rod of the servo-control.

   (9) Make sure that the Track 3 actuator is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-49-000-003).

4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Remove the unwanted sealant from all the interface surfaces with a SPATULA - NON METALLIC and with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Examine the bushes and bearing surfaces for wear and for general condition.

B. Application of Special Materials
   (1) Apply Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) to the holes of the bearing housings in the brackets (14).
   (2) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the plain shank and flange of the bearing housing (12) and to the bolts (11).

C. Installation of the Flap-Actuator Lever Assembly - Track 3
(Outboard Flap Assembly P/N D57585501004 and P/N D57585501005)
   (1) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (2) Install the bearing housing (11) in the bracket (1) and install the bolts (17) with the heads inboard.
   (3) Install the nuts (16) and safety them with the new AIPC 27-54-05-28-120 COTTER PINS (15).
   (4) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.
03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the bearing surfaces of the lever (5).
   (5) Turn the lever (5) 90 degrees and install it in the bearing housing (11).
   (6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on the mating surface of the bearing housing (2) and on the bolt (3).
   (7) Install the bearing housing (2), bolt (3) and nut (18).
   (8) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the retention plate (12) and on the bolt (4).
   (9) Install the retention plate (12), bolt (4) and nut (14).
   (10) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 15 and 14 m.N (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
   (11) Manually operate the lever (5) and make sure that it moves freely.
   (12) Safety the nut (14) with the new
AIPC 27-54-05-28-010 COTTER-PIN (13).
   (13) Remove the STRUT - ADJUSTABLE.
   (14) Move the flap to align the link arms (9) with the lever (5).
   (15) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.
06LCG9) on the bolt (10) and the nut (7).
   (16) Install the bolt (10), washer (8) and nut (7).
   (17) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 76 and 66 m.N (56.05 and 48.67 lbf.ft ) T and safety it with the new AIPC 27-54-05-32-090 COTTER PIN (6).
   (18) Do a check of the flap rigged position (
Ref. AMM TASK 27-51-00-820-003).
   (19) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) on the bolt (10) and the nut (7) after assembly.
   (20) Install the track 3 actuator 6221CM (6271CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-49-400-003).

C. Installation of the Flap-Actuator Lever Assembly
F Flap Actuator Lever - Track 3 ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Install the bearing housing (12) in the bracket (14) and install the bolts (11) with the heads inboard.
   (2) Install the washer (19) and the ring nut (18) and tighten the ring nut (18) to pull the bearing housing (12) into position.
   (3) Remove the ring nut (18) and the washer (19).
   (4) Install the nuts (20) and safety with new AIPC 27-54-05-28-120 COTTER PINS (21).
   (5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on the mating face of the washer (19).
   (6) Install the washer (19) on the bearing housing (12).
   (7) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the ring nut (18).
     (a) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (8) Install the ring nut (18) on the bearing housing (12).
   (9) TORQUE the ring nut (18) with the 98D27504028000 SPANNER-FLAP LEVER TRACKS 2 AND 3 to between 15 and 14 m.N (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
   (10) If necessary, drill a 2.5 mm (0.10 in.) hole for the cotter pin (15) in an applicable position on the bearing housing (12).
   (11) Remove all unwanted material from the area.
   (12) Safety the ring nut (18) with a new
AIPC 27-54-05-28-010 COTTER-PIN (15).
   (13) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.
03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the bearing surfaces of the lever (5).
     (a) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (14) Turn the lever (5) 90 degrees and install it in the bearing housing (12).
   (15) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on the mating surface of the bearing housing (3) and on the bolt (2).
   (16) Install the bearing housing (3), bolt (2) and nut (1).
   (17) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the retention plate (13) and on the bolt (4).
     (a) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (18) Install the retention plate (13), bolt (4) and nut (16).
   (19) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 15 and 14 m.N (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
   (20) Manually operate the lever (5) and make sure that it moves freely.
   (21) Safety the nut (16) with the new
AIPC 27-54-05-28-010 COTTER PIN (17).
   (22) Remove the adjustable strut.
   (23) Move the flap to align the flap link arms (9) with the lever (5).
   (24) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.
03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) on the bolt (10) and the nut (7).
   (25) Install the bolt (10), washer (8) and nut (7).
   (26) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 33 and 25 m.N (24.34 and 18.44 lbf.ft ) T and safety with new AIPC 27-54-05-35-060 COTTER PIN (6).
   (27) Do a check of the flap rigged position (
Ref. AMM TASK 27-51-00-820-003).
   (28) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) on the bolt (10) and the nut (7) after assembly.
   (29) Install the track 3 actuator 6221CM(6271CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-49-400-003).

C. Installation of the Flap-Actuator Lever Assembly
F Flap Actuator Lever - Track 3 ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Install the bearing housing (12) in the bracket (14) and install the bolt (11) with the head inboard.
   (2) Install the washer (19) and the ring nut (18) and tighten the ring nut (18) to pull the bearing housing (12) into position.
   (3) Remove the ring nut (18) and the washer (19).
   (4) Tighten the nut (20) and safety with the new AIPC 27-54-05-28-120 COTTER PINS (21).
   (5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on the mating face of the washer (19).
   (6) Install the washer (19) on the bearing housing (12).
   (7) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the ring nut (18).
     (a) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (8) Install the ring nut (18) on the bearing housing (12).
   (9) TORQUE the ring nut (18) with the 98D27504028000 SPANNER-FLAP LEVER TRACKS 2 AND 3 to between 15 and 14 m.N (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
   (10) If necessary, drill a 2.5 mm (0.10 in.) hole for the cotter pin (15) in an applicable position on the bearing housing (12).
   (11) Remove all unwanted material from the area.
   (12) Safety the ring nut (18) with the new
AIPC 27-54-05-28-015 COTTER PIN (15) or AIPC 27-54-85-21-010 COTTER PIN (15).
   (13) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.
03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the bearing surfaces of the lever (5).
     (a) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (14) Turn the lever (5) 90 degrees and install it in the bearing housing (12).
   (15) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on the mating surface of the bearing housing (3) and on the bolt (2).
   (16) Install the bearing housing (3), bolt (2) and nut (1).
   (17) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the retention plate (13) and on the bolt (4).
     (a) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (18) Install the retention plate (13), bolt (4) and nut (16).
   (19) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 15 and 14 m.N (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
   (20) Manually operate the lever (5) and make sure that it moves freely.
   (21) Safety the nut (16) with the new
AIPC 27-54-05-28-015 COTTER PIN (17) or AIPC 27-54-85-21-010 COTTER PIN (17).
   (22) Remove the adjustable strut.
   (23) Move the flap to align the flap link arms (9) with the lever (5).
   (24) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.
03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) on the bolt (10) and the nut (7).
   (25) Install the bolt (10), washer (8) and nut (7).
   (26) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 22 and 18 m.N (16.22 and 13.27 lbf.ft ) T and safety with new AIPC 27-54-05-35-060 COTTER PIN (6).
   (27) Do a check of the flap rigged position (
Ref. AMM TASK 27-51-00-820-003).
   (28) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) on the bolt (10) and the nut (7) after assembly.
   (29) Install the track 3 actuator 6221CM(6271CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-49-400-003).

C. Installation of the Flap-Actuator Lever Assembly
F Flap Actuator Lever - Track 3 ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Install the bearing housing (12) on the bracket (14) and install the bolt (11) with the head inboard.
   (2) Install the washer (19) and the ring nut (18).
   (3) Tighten the ring nut (18) to pull the bearing housing (12) into position.
   (4) Remove the ring nut (18) and the washer (19).
   (5) Tighten the nut (20).
   (6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on the mating face of the washer (19).
   (7) Install the washer (19) on the bearing housing (12).
   (8) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the ring nut (18).
     (a) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (9) Install the ring nut (18) on the bearing housing (12).
   (10) TORQUE the ring nut (18) with the 98D27504028000 SPANNER-FLAP LEVER TRACKS 2 AND 3 to between 15 and 14 m.N (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
   (11) If necessary, on the bearing housing (12), in an applicable position, drill a 2.5 mm (0.10 in.) hole for the cotter pin (15).
   (12) Remove all unwanted material from the area.
   (13) Safety the ring nut (18) with the new
AIPC 27-54-05-28-015 COTTER PIN (15) or the AIPC 27-54-85-21-010 COTTER PIN (15).
   (14) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.
03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the bearing surfaces of the lever (5).
     (a) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (15) Turn the lever (5) 90 degrees and install it on the bearing housing (12).
   (16) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) on the mating surface of the bearing housing (3) and on the bolt (2).
   (17) Install the bearing housing (3), bolt (2) and nut (1).
NOTE: There is a difference between NEO and CEO aircraft at the flap rotary actuator lever housing assembly. The bearing housing (3) for NEO aircraft has bigger dimensions and thus is not flush with the inner surface of the bracket.
   (18) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the retention plate (13) and on the bolt (4).
     (a) For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (19) Install the retention plate (13), bolt (4) and nut (16).
   (20) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 15 and 14 m.N (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
   (21) Manually operate the lever (5) and make sure that it moves freely.
   (22) Safety the nut (16) with the new
AIPC 27-54-05-28-015 COTTER PIN (17) or the AIPC 27-54-85-21-010 COTTER PIN (17).
   (23) Remove the STRUT - ADJUSTABLE.
   (24) Move the flap to align the flap link arms (9) with the lever (5).
   (25) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.
03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) on the bolt (10) and the nut (7).
   (26) Install the bolt (10), washer (8) and nut (7).
   (27) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 22 and 18 m.N (16.22 and 13.27 lbf.ft ) T.
   (28) Do a check of the flap rigged position (
Ref. AMM TASK 27-51-00-820-003).
   (29) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) on the bolt (10) and the nut (7) after assembly.
   (30) Install the track 3 actuator 6221CM(6271CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-49-400-003).

C. Installation of the Flap-Actuator Lever Assembly

   (1) Install the bearing housing (12) on the bracket (14) and install the bolt (11) with the head inboard.
   (2) Install the washer (19) and the ring nut (18).
   (3) Tighten the ring nut (18) to pull the bearing housing (12) into position.
   (4) Remove the ring nut (18) and the washer (19).
   (5) Tighten the nut (20).
   (6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the mating face of the washer (19).
   (7) Install the washer (19) on the bearing housing (12).
   (8) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the ring nut (18).
NOTE: For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (9) Install the ring nut (18) on the bearing housing (12).
   (10) TORQUE the ring nut (18) with the 98D27504028000 SPANNER-FLAP LEVER TRACKS 2 AND 3 to between 15 and 14 m.N (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.

   (29) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the bolt (10) and the nut (7) after assembly.
   (30) Install Track 3 actuator 6221CM(6271CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-49-400-003).

   (1) Install the outboard bearing housing (12) in the brackets (14) and install the bolts (11) with the heads inboard.
   (2) Install the washer (19) and the ring nut (18). Tighten the ring nut (18) to pull the outboard bearing housing (12) into position.
   (3) Remove the ring nut (18) and the washer (19).
   (4) Install the nuts (20).
   (5) Safety the nuts (20) with the new AIPC 27-54-05-28-120 COTTER PINS (21).
   (6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the mating face of the washer (19).
   (7) Install the washer (19) on the outboard bearing housing (12).
   (8) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the ring nut (18).
   (9) Install the ring nut (18) on the outboard bearing housing (12).
   (10) TORQUE the ring nut (18) with the 98D27504028000 SPANNER-FLAP LEVER TRACKS 2 AND 3 to between 15 and 14 m.N (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
   (11) If necessary, drill a 2.5 mm (0.10 in.) hole for the cotter pin (15) in an applicable position on the outboard bearing housing (12).
   (12) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.
14SBA1) to remove all unwanted material from the area.
   (13) Safety the ring nut (18) with the new AIPC 27-54-05-28-015 COTTER PIN (15).
   (14) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.
03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the bearing surfaces of the lever (5).
   (15) Turn the lever (5) through 90 degree and install in the outboard bearing housing (12).
   (16) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the mating surface of the bearing housing (3) and on the bolt (2).
   (17) Install the bearing housing (3), the bolt (2) and the nut (1).
   (18) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the retention plate (13) and to the bolt (4).
   (19) Install the retention plate (13), the bolt (4) and the nut (16).
