WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
  • THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
  • COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: YOU MUST PUT ON AND ATTACH A SAFETY HARNESS BEFORE YOU START WORK:
  • ON THE THS OR IN THE REAR FUSELAGE
  • ON TOP OF THE WINGS OR PYLONS.
WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES. THE COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF CARBONFIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC.
CAUTION: THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.

D. Preparation for Installation
WARNING: THIS PROCEDURE IS IN A CATEGORY KNOWN AS A CRITICAL DESIGN CONFIGURATION CONTROL LIMITATION (CDCCL). YOU MUST KEEP ALL CDCCL ITEMS IN THE APPROVED CONFIGURATION. MAKE SURE THAT THE WEIGHT OF THE ELEVATOR IS IN THE SPECIFIED LIMITS.
   (1) Make sure that the elevator weight is in the CMM 552115 limits if you did maintenance procedures on the elevator.
NOTE: Some maintenance procedures (repairs, paint work, etc.) can cause the elevator weight to increase.
NOTE: Elevator weight can have an effect on the interchangeability of the component. If the elevator weight is out of the limits refer to CMM 552115 for instructions.
   (2) Prepare the elevator for installation.
     (a) If you replace the elevator, remove these items from the removed elevator and install them on the new elevator if not already installed:
     (b) Clean all connecting hardware with Non Aqueous Cleaner_- Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone - (Material No.08BBF1) and examine for damage and corrosion.
     (c) Clean all attach fittings with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Naphta based and Alcohol - (Material No.08BBC1) and examine for damage and corrosion.
     (d) On the new elevator remove the hoist point plugs (10) and install the hoisting lugs.
     (e) Put the CRANE HEIGHT 15 M (50 FT) into position.
     (f) Attach the 98D27309008000 SLING-LIFTING, ELEVATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION or the 98D55209004000 SLING, REM.-INST.- ELEVATOR to the crane and to the hoisting lugs.
     (g) Operate the crane and slowly tighten the sling cables. Adjust the turnbuckles as necessary to get an equal tension to all cables.
