Remove/Open of the Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer (THS) Trailing-Edge Access-Panels
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
YOU MUST PUT ON AND ATTACH A SAFETY HARNESS BEFORE YOU START WORK:
- ON THE THS OR IN THE REAR FUSELAGE
- ON TOP OF THE WINGS OR PYLONS.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES. THE COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF CARBONFIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC.

(1) Make sure that the Green, Blue and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).

C. Install Locking Devices
(1) Put the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING in the CAPT and F/O side stick controllers.

D. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position at zone 334 for the left hand trailing edge access panels and/or zone 344 for the right hand trailing edge access panels.
4. Procedure(1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position at zone 334 for the left hand trailing edge access panels and/or zone 344 for the right hand trailing edge access panels.

A. Remove/Open the access Panels
(1) Remove the lower trailing-edge hinged access panels.
(b) Remove the screws (7), (8) and (9), the nuts (10) and the washers (11).
(c) Remove the access panel (6).
(b) Remove the panel (5).
(3) Removal of the upper trailing-edge access panels.
(b) Remove the panel (4).
(1) Remove the lower trailing-edge hinged access panels.
NOTE: The removal of the access panel 334FB is given. The removal of all other access panels is the same.
CAUTION:
IF THE AIRCRAFT HAS A CONCESSION(S) RELATED TO THE INSTALLATION OF ADDITIONAL BUSHINGS ON THE THS TRAILING-EDGE LOWER-SKIN-FLANGE, YOU CAN FIND BUSHINGS INSTALLED IN SOME SCREW POSITIONS: IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CAN OCCUR.
(a) Remove the screws (2) and open access panel (6). -
MAKE SURE THAT THE BUSHINGS ARE IN POSITION AND DO NOT REMOVE THEM. -
IF ONE OR MORE BUSHINGS ARE LOOSE OR MISSING, CONTACT AIRBUS.
(b) Remove the screws (7), (8) and (9), the nuts (10) and the washers (11).
(c) Remove the access panel (6).
NOTE: To remove access panel 334DB(LH) and/or 344DB(RH) you must remove the nut (22), the washer (23) and the bolt (26) which hold the bonding lead (25) to the bracket (24) at two positions.
(2) Removal of the lower trailing-edge access panels. NOTE: The removal of the panel 334EB is given. The removal of all other trailing-edge panels is the same.
CAUTION:
IF THE AIRCRAFT HAS A CONCESSION(S) RELATED TO THE INSTALLATION OF ADDITIONAL BUSHINGS ON THE THS TRAILING-EDGE LOWER-SKIN-FLANGE, YOU CAN FIND BUSHINGS INSTALLED IN SOME SCREW POSITIONS: IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CAN OCCUR.
(a) Remove the screws (1) and (2). -
MAKE SURE THAT THE BUSHINGS ARE IN POSITION AND DO NOT REMOVE THEM. -
IF ONE OR MORE BUSHINGS ARE LOOSE OR MISSING, CONTACT AIRBUS.
(b) Remove the panel (5).
(3) Removal of the upper trailing-edge access panels.
NOTE: The removal of the panel 334CT is given. The removal of all other upper trailing-edge access panels is the same. For the removal of the panels 334CT(LH) and/or 344CT(RH) you must first open the lower panels 334FB (LH) and/or 344FB (RH).
(a) Remove the screws (1), (2) and (3), the nuts (10) and the washers (11). (b) Remove the panel (4).
NOTE: To remove access panel 334BT(LH) and/or 344BT(RH) you must open the lower panels 334DB(LH) and/or 344DB(RH) first, then remove the nut (22), the washer (23) and the bolt (26) which hold the bonding lead (25) to the bracket (24) at two positions.
