A. Weight Check for the Meggitt Assembly
   (1) Put the 83000007 CRADLE-FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE on the SCALE 36 KG (80 LB), ACCURACY 0.005 KG (0.01 LB).
   (2) Adjust the SCALE 36 KG (80 LB), ACCURACY 0.005 KG (0.01 LB) to zero.
   (3) Put the fire extinguisher bottle in the 83000007 CRADLE-FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE.
   (4) Weigh the fire extinguisher bottle. Record the weight to the nearest 0.01 lb (0.0045 kg).
NOTE: The maximum weight without the cartridge, the discharge outlet and protective caps is 10.15 lb (4.6040 kg).
   (5) Compare the weight of the fire extinguisher to the last weight given on the identification plate.
   (6) If the fire extinguisher bottle is more than 0.10 lb (0.0454 kg) and less than the last recorded weight, do a leak test for the fire extinguisher.
Send the fire extinguisher bottle to the workshop for the leak test. Obey the manufacturer's instructions given in the related Component Maintenance Manual (CMM).
NOTE: To find the CMM reference, you can use the applicable P/N in the IPC. You can use the FIN in the task title to find the applicable P/N.

B. Weight Check for the Kidde Assembly
WARNING: INSTALL A PROTECTIVE CAP IN THE SWIVEL NUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU REMOVE THE DISCHARGE OUTLET. THE PROTECTIVE CAP PROTECTS THE DISC ASSEMBLY AND PREVENTS ACCIDENTAL RELEASE OF THE BOTTLE PRESSURE. RELEASE OF THE BOTTLE PRESSURE CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Remove the 324467 CAP,PROTECTIVE-FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM from the swivel nut (11).
   (2) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the fill-and-safety fitting of the fire extinguisher bottle (19).
   (3) Put the 324467 CAP,PROTECTIVE-FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM and CAP - BLANKING on a SCALE 36 KG (80 LB), ACCURACY 0.005 KG (0.01 LB). Record the weight.
   (4) Remove the 324467 CAP,PROTECTIVE-FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM and the CAP - BLANKING from the SCALE 36 KG (80 LB), ACCURACY 0.005 KG (0.01 LB).
   (5) Install the 324467 CAP,PROTECTIVE-FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM in the swivel nut (11).
   (6) Tighten the 324467 CAP,PROTECTIVE-FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM with your hand.
   (7) Install the CAP - BLANKING on the fill-and-safety fitting of the fire extinguisher bottle (19).
   (8) Put the fire extinguisher bottle (19) on the SCALE 36 KG (80 LB), ACCURACY 0.005 KG (0.01 LB). Record the weight.
   (9) Remove the fire extinguisher bottle (19) from the SCALE 36 KG (80 LB), ACCURACY 0.005 KG (0.01 LB).
   (10) Subtract the weight of the protective caps from the weight of the fire extinguisher bottle (19). This is the "TOTAL WT (ACTL)".
   (11) Compare "TOTAL WT (ACTL)" calculated in the last step to the "TOTAL WT (ACTL)" written on the identification plate. If the weights are the same, the container has no leaks.
   (12) If the weight difference is more than the permitted difference of 0.05 lb (0.02 kg), you must repair the fire extinguisher bottle (19).
Send the fire extinguisher bottle to the workshop for the repair. Obey the manufacturer's instructions given in the related Component Maintenance Manual (CMM).
NOTE: To find the CMM reference, you can use the applicable P/N in the IPC. You can use the FIN in the task title to find the applicable P/N.
   (13) If the weight difference is less than the permitted limit, remove the date from the "LAST WT INSP DATE" field on the identification plate with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (14) Write the date when you weighed the container on the identification plate.
