Installation of the Cylinder Fairings in the Aft Cargo Compartment

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE CARGO COMPARTMENT IS CORRECTLY SEALED AFTER YOU REPLACE THE SEALING OF:
  • CARGO COMPARTMENT LININGS
  • SIDEWALL PANELS
  • CEILING PANELS
  • PARTITION PANELS.
IF THE SEALING IS NOT CORRECTLY INSTALLED AND A FIRE OCCURS, THE FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 25-55-11-860-059-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the aft cargo-compartment door is opened (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the opening of the aft cargo-compartment door.
   (4) Make sure that the light switch is set to on.
   (5) On the control panel of the aft cargo loading-system:
     (a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to use the control panel.
   (6) Make sure that the door actuator of the aft cargo compartment is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-36-18-000-001).
   (7) Make sure that the related ceiling panels of the aft cargo compartment are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-002).

4. Procedure
Subtask 25-55-11-910-054-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Do an inspection of the cylinder fairings (1).
   (2) If necessary, repair the cylinder fairings (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-50-00-200-024).
   (3) Do an inspection of the sealing tapes (30) of the bumpers (7):
     (a) Make sure that the sealing tapes (30) are not missing.
     (b) Replace the damaged sealing tapes (30) on the bumpers (7):
       1 Remove the damaged sealing tapes (30) from the bumpers (7).
       2 Clean the surfaces of the new sealing tapes (30) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
       3 Apply Sealing Profile-- Silicone Foam - (Material No.14JAB1) on the surfaces of the sealing tapes (30) and bond them in their correct installation position.
       4 Make sure that the sealing tapes (30) are installed without clearance.
   (4) Do an inspection of the adjacent aircraft structure for damage:
     (a) Remove the sealants (29) from the rubbers (28).
     (b) Clean the surfaces of the new sealants (29) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (c) Apply the new Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Smoother - (Material No.06AAE1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) (29) on the rubbers (28).
     (d) If the adjacent aircraft structure is damaged, repair it.
     (e) Make sure that the contact surfaces of the panels at the adjacent aircraft structure are flat.
   (5) Fill the clearances or the holes with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) and make them flat.
   (6) Make sure that that the contact surfaces continue to be flat when the sealant is applied and dry. If necessary, make them flat.
   (7) Make sure that the placards on the replaced or repaired components are in the correct position and in good condition.
   (8) If necessary, install new placards (Ref. AMM TASK 11-00-00-400-010).
   (9) Do a visual inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
   (10) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (11) Examine each panel for cracks and other damage.

B. Installation of the Cylinder Fairings
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
   (1) Hold the cylinder fairings (1) in position.
   (2) Move the connector panels (9) and the wiring harness (10) through the access holes (12) while you carefully lift the cylinder fairings (1).
   (3) Put the cylinder fairings (1) in their correct installation positions.
   (4) Install the washers (2) and the screws (8).
   (5) TORQUE the screws (8) to between 3.85 and 3.15 m.N (34.07 and 27.88 lbf.in ) T.
   (6) Put the bumpers (7) in position and install the washers (2) and the screws (3), (4), (5) and (6).
   (7) TORQUE the screws (3), (4), (5) and (6) to between 3.85 and 3.15 m.N (34.07 and 27.88 lbf.in )
T.
   (8) Put the connector panels (9) in position and install the screws (11).
   (9) Tighten the screws (11).
   (10) Carefully put the pipes (35) in their correct installation positions on the cylinder fairings (1).
   (11) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the disconnected line ends.
   (12) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings of the pipes (35) are serviceable.
   (13) Install the washers (34) and the locknuts (33).
   (14) Tighten the locknuts (33) with your hand.
   (15) Make sure that the union nuts (32) are serviceable.
   (16) Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.
02ABA1) to the internal threads of the union nuts (32).
   (17) Connect the pipes (31) to the pipes (35) and install the union nuts (32).
   (18) Tighten the union nuts (32) with your hand.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU TORQUE THE NUT, ALWAYS USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY A COUNTERTORQUE TO THE FITTING.
   (19) TORQUE the locknuts (33) to between 1.32 and 1.21 m.daN (116.81 and 107.08 lbf.in ) T.
   (20) TORQUE the union nuts (32) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
   (21) Connect the bonding straps (26) and install the bolts (27), the washers (25) and the nuts (24). Do the bonding (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (22) Tighten the bolts (27).
   (23) Disengage the wiring harness (21) from the aft cargo-compartment door.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
   (24) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (25) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (26) Connect the electrical connector (14) to the receptacle (13).
   (27) Put the wiring harness (10) and (21) in their correct installation position on the clamps (23).
   (28) Safety the electrical connector (14) with new TIE WRAPS (22).
   (29) Install the spacer (15), clamp (16), spacer (17), clamp (20), washer (19) and bolt (18).
   (30) Tighten the bolt (18).

A. Close Access
   (1) Install the door actuator of the aft cargo compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 52-36-18-400-001).
   (2) Install the removed ceiling panels of the aft cargo compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-400-002).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S) from the control panel of the aft cargo loading-system.
   (5) Set the light switch to off.
   (6) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
