4. Procedure
Subtask 80-13-49-480-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for the Leak Test
   (1) There are two procedures to find the location of an air leak at a pneumatic joint. You can apply V06-032developer, dry around the couplings or you can install FOIL - ALUMINUM (Local Purchase) around the coupling locations.
     (a) Method 1
1 Apply dry developer around the couplings on the starter ducts.
     (b) Method 2
Use the steps that follow to apply foil, aluminum to the starter ducts.
1 Wind the foil wrap around the coupling one time only.
2 Twist the seam and two ends of the foil wrap tight.
3 Make the foil wrap as tight as possible on the coupling but do not rip the wrap.
4 Attach the foil wrap at the two sides of the coupling with lockwire (Material No.V02-147) .

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL 438AR
     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.

C. Do this Test
   (1) Start the related engine with the automatic or manual start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-043) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-047) and keep it at idle.
   (2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Push the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch (the OFF legend of this pushbutton switch goes off).
   (3) After 5 minutes, do the engine shutdown procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-018).
Subtask 80-13-49-010-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL 438AL

447AL 448AR.
Subtask 80-13-49-790-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
E. Make sure that there are no leaks at the couplings on the starter ducts on the related engine.
   (1) Method 1
     (a) Do a visual check for a break in the V06-032developer, dry around the couplings on the starter ducts.
   (2) Method 2
     (a) Do a visual check of the aluminum foil around the couplings on the starter ducts.
NOTE: There is a leak when the leak air removes the dry developer from the coupling.
There is a leak when the foil installed around the coupling breaks.
