Leak Test of the Starter Ducts with the Engine in Operation
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
1. Reason for the Job- This TASK gives the procedure for a leak test of the starter ducts.
- The test procedure checks for leaks around the couplings of the starter ducts. You must start the engines to do this procedure.

A. Preparation for the Leak Test
(1) There are two procedures to find the location of an air leak at a pneumatic joint. You can applyV06-032 developer, dry around the couplings or you can install FOIL - ALUMINUM (Local Purchase) around the coupling locations.
(a) Method 1
1 Apply dry developer around the couplings on the starter ducts.
(b) Method 2
Use the steps that follow to apply foil, aluminum to the starter ducts.
1 Wind the foil wrap around the coupling one time only.
2 Twist the seam and two ends of the foil wrap tight.
3 Make the foil wrap as tight as possible on the coupling but do not rip the wrap.
4 Attach the foil wrap at the two sides of the coupling with lockwire (Material No.V02-147) .
