1. Reason for the Job
This task supplies the data to install the five thrust reverser blocker door bumpers. The upper bumper uses a wedge to support the bumper assembly, the four lower bumpers use a filler in place of the wedge.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-32-45-860-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

C. Make sure that the thrust reverser is deactivated:
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) is deactivated (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

D. Make sure that the thrust reverser translating sleeves are extended 3 in. (76.2 mm) to 4 in. (101.6 mm) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-010).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-45-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
A. Installation of the Left Thrust Reverser Blocker Door Bumpers
NOTE: Parts may be sized using removed parts as template.
   (1) Pre-clean faying surfaces of the filler (2) or wedge (3) as follows:
     (a) Pre-clean faying surfaces of the metal using a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) dampened with V01-031Acetone, Technical grade. Dry the solvent before it evaporates using a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) .
     (b) Lightly abrade the pre-cleaned surface using ABRASIVE PAPER -120 GRIT or aluminium oxyde abrasive nylon web.
     (c) Final-clean with a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) dampened with V01-031Acetone, Technical grade. Dry the solvent before it evaporates using a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) .
   (2) Install the filler (2) or the wedge (3) to the bond panel.
     (a) Use DAPCO 2100 Primerless Sealant or DAPCO 2200 Rapid Cure Primerless Sealant according to the manufacturer's instructions to install the filler (2) or wedge (3) to the bond panel.
   (3) Pre-clean the bumper assembly as follows:
     (a) Scuff sand the faying surface of the rubber absorber with ABRASIVE PAPER -120 GRIT.
     (b) Remove all the sanding debris using a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) dampened with V01-124Isopropyl Alcohol, Technical grade. Wipe dry using a clean lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) before the solvent evaporates.
   (4) Install the bumper assembly (1) on the filler (2) or on the wedge (3).
     (a) Use primer (Material No.V08-032) for silicone rubber compound (Material No.V08-031) or General Electric SS4004 primer for RTV 108 according to the manufacturer's instructions to install the bumper assembly (1) on the filler (2) or on the wedge (3).
     (b) Install the bumper assembly (1) over the filler (2) or the wedge (3) with the laminated shim towards the blocker door.

B. Adjust the Aero Smoothness
   (1) Remove the peelable laminated shim on the bumper assembly (1), to adjust the aero smoothness at the trailing edge of the blocker door to adjacent bond panel.
   (2) Make sure to keep the acceptable tolerance between +0.050 in. (1.27 mm) to the wind step and -0.050 in. (-1.27 mm) out of the wind step. See the sheet 1 of the figure.

C. Installation of the Thrust Reverser Blocker Doors
   (1) Install the thrust reverser blocker doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-45-400-010).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

E. Operational Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).
NOTE: As an alternative procedure, you can do the operational test without the CFDS (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).
