A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

D. Get Access
   (1) Manually deploy the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
   (2) Remove the blocker door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-000-804).
   (3) Remove the blocker door link arm (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-000-804).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-42-150-050-A
A. Paint Stripping of the Link Arm (1)
NOTE: When using alodine, primer or paint follow cure time of the consumable recommended by manufacturer.
   (1) Remove any loose paint with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
   (2) Use an TAPE - ADHESIVE to check the adhesion of the remaining paint.
   (3) If required, perform paint stripping SRM 517511.

B. Masking of the Required Area
   (1) Mask off the adjacent area, which will not be treated, with TAPE - MASKING and PAPER - MASKING.

C. Painting of the Link Arm
   (1) Abrade the surface with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320) and chamfer the edges of the remaining paint around the damaged area.
   (2) Lightly sand the areas to be refinished.
   (3) Solvent wipe with clean cloths and ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL (Material No.CPNCL02662) .
   (4) Repeat as required to ensure surface is unsoiled.
   (5) Apply Alodine 1200S (Material No.CPNCL01717) or Alodine 1500 (Material No.CPNCL01723) over the exposed metal and allow to dry.
   (6) Apply one coat of primer PAC 33 (Material No.CPNCL01845) and allow to dry.
   (7) Coat the link arms with Anti Erosion Paint-Celoflex 95 (Material No.CPNCL02708) per manufacturers recommended instructions. Coating thickness to be between 0.043 mm (0.0017 in.) and 0.058 mm (0.0023 in.).
   (8) Perform general visual inspection at completion of the repair.
   (9) If any of the link arm marking was damaged, repair it as follows:
     (a) Depending on damage - repair existing or add new "NO STEP" marking using between 17.3 mm (0.68 in.) and 18.3 mm (0.72 in.) high characters approximately centered on the link arm. Produce characters with a permanent ink (Material No.CPNCL02690) .
     (b) Depending on damage - repair existing or add new "FWD" markings and arrows using between 4.6 mm (0.18 in.) and 5.6 mm (0.22 in.) high characters located appropriately in the area shown on the figures. Produce characters with a permanent ink (Material No.CPNCL02690) .
     (c) Depending on damage - repair existing or add new "P/N" marking and arrows using between 3.0 mm (0.12 in.) and 4.0 mm (0.16 in.) high characters located appropriately in the area shown on the figures. Produce characters with a permanent ink (Material No.CPNCL02690) .
     (d) Coat markings with a clear lacquer or a polyurethane topcoat and air dry. The marking shall be legible after coating.
     (e) Perform visual inspection to ensure marking is legible.

   (4) Manually stow the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-410-801).
