C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
4. ProcedureWARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-00-210-107-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Visually Examine the Torque Box Fittings and Attaching Hardware to the Forward Frame
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
(2) Visually examine the torque box fittings and attaching hardware to the forward frame. Use and inspection FLASHLIGHT and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X.
(3) Clean the inspection areas with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove unwanted debris, dirt and grease.
(4) Examine the torque box fitting assemblies and attaching hardware for the locking feedback actuator and locking actuator.
(a) Look for gouges, nicks, scratches, deterioration of protection, missing or lose fasteners and other damage.
(b) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(5) Examine the gimbal pins, gimbal pin retainer and hardware that attach the locking feedback actuator and locking actuator to the torque box fitting assemblies.
(a) Look for gouges, nicks, scratches, deterioration of protection and other damage.
(b) If you find damage, replace the gimbal pin (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-03-000-801), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-03-400-801), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-04-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-04-400-801) or contact UTAS for disposition.
(6) Examine the torque box fitting assemblies and attaching hardware for the door opening system actuator.
(a) Look for gouges, nicks, scratches, deterioration of protection, missing or loose fasteners and other damage.
(b) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
5. Close-up(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
