D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

E. Get Access
   (1) Get access to the TRAS track-lock harness on the forward frame of the thrust reverser cowl door.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Installation of the Right TRAS Track Lock Harness (3)
   (1) Removal of the protection covers
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Mix the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803), PU4-0004Acuring solution, epoxy primer and thinner (Material No.PU4-0005) . Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
   (3) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3) (40510VC) to the torque box disconnect panel. Use the four screws (2) and the four washers (1). Wet install the screws (2) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
     (a) Tighten the screws (2) with your hand. Then tighten the screws (2) 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more.
   (4) Connect the pylon TRAS track lock harness (4051VC-A) to the right TRAS track lock harness (3) (4051VC) with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (a) Turn the connector finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
   (5) Put the clamp (6) on the right TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (6) Remove the bolt (4), washer (5) and right TRAS monitoring harness clamp.
   (7) Clean the faying surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
   (8) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (9) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp below the clamp (6). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
   (10) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3), the clamp (6), the right TRAS monitoring harness and the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp on the torque box with the bolt (4) and washer (5). Put the clamp (6) on top of the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp. Wet install the bolt (4) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (4) at this time.
   (11) Put the two clamps (7) on the right TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (12) Remove the two bolts (9), two washers (8) and the two right TRAS monitoring harness clamps.
   (13) Clean the faying surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
   (14) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (15) Look at the surfaces of the torque box where you will install the right TRAS monitoring harness clamps below the clamps (7). Make sure the surfaces have a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of a surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
   (16) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3), the two clamps (7), the right TRAS monitoring harness and the two right TRAS monitoring harness clamps on the torque box with the two bolts (9) and the two washers (8). Put the two clamps (7) on top of the two right TRAS monitoring harness clamps. Wet install the bolts (9) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (9) at this time.
   (17) Put the five clamps (10) on the right TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (18) Remove the five bolts (12), five washers (11) and the five right TRAS monitoring clamps.
   (19) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3), five clamps (10), right TRAS monitoring harness and five right TRAS monitoring harness clamps on the torque box with the five bolts (12) and five washers (11). Put the five clamps (10) on top of the five right TRAS monitoring harness clamps. Wet install the bolts (12) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (12) at this time.
   (20) Put the four clamps (15) on the right TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (21) Remove the four nuts (13) and the eight washers (14) that attach the four right TRAS monitoring harness clamps, the right TRAS monitoring harness and the four supports to the torque box.
   (22) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3), the four clamps (15), the right TRAS monitoring harness, the four right TRAS monitoring harness clamps, and the four supports on the torque box. Use the four nuts (13) and the eight washers (14). Put the four clamps on top of the four clamps (15). Wet install the nuts (13) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the nuts (13) at this time.
   (23) Put the clamp (18) on the right TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (24) Remove the bolt (16), washer (17) and the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp.
   (25) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3), the clamp (18), the right TRAS monitoring harness and the right TRAS monitoring clamp on the torque box with the bolt (16) and washer (17). Put the clamp (18) on top of the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp. Wet install the bolt (16) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (16) at this time.
   (26) Put the clamp (19) on the right TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (27) Remove the bolt (21), washer (20) and the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp.
   (28) Clean the faying surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
   (29) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (30) Look at the surfaces of the torque box where you will install the clamp (19). Make sure the surfaces have a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of a surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
   (31) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3), the clamp (19), the right TRAS monitoring harness and the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp on the torque box with the bolt (21) and washer (20). Put the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp on top of the clamp (19). Wet install the bolt (21) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (21) at this time.
   (32) Put the clamp (22) on the right TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (33) Remove the bolt (23), washer (24) and the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp.
   (34) Clean the faying surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
   (35) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (36) Look at the surfaces of the torque box where you will install the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp below the clamp (22). Make sure the surfaces have a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of a surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
   (37) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3), the clamp (22), the right TRAS monitoring harness and the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp on the torque box with the bolt (23) and washer (24). Put the clamp (22) on top of the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp. Wet install the bolt (23) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (23) at this time.
   (38) Put the clamp (25) on the right TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (39) Remove the bolt (27), washer (26) and the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp.
   (40) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3), the clamp (25), the right TRAS monitoring harness and the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp on the torque box with the bolt (27) and washer (26). Put the right TRAS monitoring harness clamp on top of the clamp (25). Wet install the bolts (9) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (27) at this time.
   (41) Connect the right TRAS track lock harness (3) (4142KS-A) to the track lock valve.
     (a) Turn the connector finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
   (42) Connect the right TRAS track lock harness (3) terminal lug to the torque box.
     (a) Clean the bolt (30) and washers (29) and (28) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (b) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
     (c) Clean the mating surface of the torque box with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (d) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
     (e) Attach the right TRAS track lock harness (3) terminal lug to the torque box with the bolt (30) and washers (29) and (28).
     (f) Measure the resistance between the right TRAS track lock harness (3) terminal lug and the washer (29). Make sure that it is less than 0.001 ohm. If the resistance is more than 0.001 ohm, remove the hardware and do steps 4.A.(42)(a) thru 4.A.(42)(f) again.
     (g) TORQUE the bolt (30) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
   (43) Adjust the right TRAS track lock harness (3) to keep the preload to a minimum. Make sure that there are no kinks in the right TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (44) Tighten the nuts and bolts.
     (a) TORQUE the bolts (4), (9), (12), (16), (21), (23) and (27) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )

     (b) TORQUE the nuts (13) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

   (1) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence

   (2) Do the operational test of the thrust reverser with the MCDU (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-805).
