D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

E. Get Access
   (1) Get access to the TRAS track-lock harness on the forward frame of the thrust reverser cowl door.

4. Procedure
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.

A. Installation of the Left TRAS Track-Lock-Harness (3)
NOTE: You can use base primer (Material No.PU4-0002C) or base primer (Material No.PU4-0002D) with curing solution (Material No.PU4-0009) or base primer (Material No.PU4-0002E) with converter (Material No.PU4-0007) as an alternative to PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant.
   (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Mix the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant, PU4-0004Acuring solution, epoxy primer and the thinner (Material No.PU4-0005) . Refer to the instructions of manufacturer.
NOTE: You can use thinner (Material No.PU4-0008) as an alternative to thinner (Material No.PU4-0005) .
   (3) Attach the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3) (4050VC) to the torque-box disconnect panel. Use the four screws (1) and the four washers (2). Wet install the bolt (19) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
     (a) Tighten the screws (1) with your hand. Then tighten the screws (1) 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more.
   (4) Connect the pylon TRAS track-lock-harness (4050VC-A) to the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3) (4050VC) with the PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (a) Turn the connector finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
   (5) Put the clamp (4) on the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3).
   (6) Remove the bolt (6), washer (5) and left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp from the torque box.
   (7) Clean the faying surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (8) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp below the clamp (4). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
   (9) Attach the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3), clamp (4), left TRAS monitoring-harness and left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp on the torque box with the bolt (6) and the washer (5). Put the clamp (4) on top of the left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp. Wet install the bolts (6) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (6) at this time.
   (10) Put the two clamps (7) on the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3).
   (11) Remove the two bolts (8), two washers (9) and two left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps from the torque box.
   (12) Clean the faying surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (13) Look at the surfaces of the torque box where you will install the left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps below the clamps (7). Make sure the surfaces have a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of a surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
   (14) Attach the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3), two clamps (7), left TRAS monitoring-harness and two left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps on the torque box with the two bolts (8) and two washers (9). Put the two clamps (7) on top of the two left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps. Wet install the bolts (8) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (8) at this time.
   (15) Put the six clamps (12) on the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3).
   (16) Remove the six bolts (10), six washers (11) and the six left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps from the torque box.
   (17) Attach the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3), six clamps (12), left TRAS monitoring-harness and six left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps on the torque box with the six bolts (10) and the six washers (11). Put the six clamps (12) on top of the six left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps. Wet install the bolt (19) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (10) at this time.
   (18) Put the four clamps (15) on the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3).
   (19) Remove the four nuts (13) and the eight washers (14) that attach the four left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps, left TRAS monitoring-harness and four supports to the torque box.
   (20) Attach the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3), four clamps (15), left TRAS monitoring-harness, four left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps and four supports on the torque box with the four nuts (13) and the eight washers (14). Put the four left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamps on top of the four clamps (15). Wet install the nuts (13) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the nuts (13) at this time.
   (21) Put the clamp (16) on the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3).
   (22) Remove the bolt (18), washer (17) and left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp from the torque box.
   (23) Clean the faying surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (24) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the clamp (16). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
   (25) Attach the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3), clamp (16), left TRAS monitoring-harness and left TRAS monitoring harness clamp on the torque box with the bolt (18) and the washer (17). Put the left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp on top of the clamp (16). Wet install the bolt (18) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (18) at this time.
   (26) Put the clamp (21) on the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3).
   (27) Remove the bolt (19), washer (20) and the left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp from the torque box.
   (28) Clean the faying surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (29) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp below the clamp (19). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
   (30) Attach the left TRAS track lock harness (3), clamp (21), left TRAS monitoring harness and left TRAS monitoring harness clamp on the torque box with the bolt (19) and the washer (20). Put the clamp (21) on top of the left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp. Wet install the bolt (19) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (19) at this time.
   (31) Put the clamp (22) on the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3).
   (32) Remove the bolt (24), washer (23) and the left TRAS monitoring-harness-clamp from the torque box.
   (33) Attach the left TRAS track lock harness (3), clamp (22), left TRAS monitoring-harness and left TRAS monitoring harness clamp on the torque box with the bolt (24) and the washer (23). Put the left TRAS-monitoring-harness clamp on top of the clamp (22). Wet install the bolt (24) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (24) at this time.
   (34) Connect the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3) (4141KS-A) to the track lock valve.
     (a) Turn the connector finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
   (35) Connect the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3) terminal lug to the torque box.
     (a) Clean the bolt (25) and the washers (26) and (27) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
     (b) Clean the mating surface of the torque box with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
     (c) Attach the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3) terminal lug to the torque box with the bolt (25) and the washers (26) and (27).
     (d) Measure the resistance between the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3) terminal lug and the washer (26). Make sure that it is less than 0.001 ohm. If the resistance is more than 0.001 ohm, remove the hardware and do steps 4.A.(35)(a) thru 4.A.(35)(d) again.
     (e) TORQUE the bolt (25) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
   (36) Adjust the left TRAS track-lock-harness (3) to keep the preload to a minimum. Make sure that there are no kinks in the left TRAS track lock harness (3).
   (37) Tighten the nuts and the bolts.
     (a) TORQUE the bolts (6), (8), (10), (18), (19) and (24) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )

     (b) TORQUE the nuts (13) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )

   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

D. Test
   (1) Do the operational test of the thrust reverser with the MCDU (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-805).
   (2) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
