Removal of the Thrust Reverser Hydraulic Tubes
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
1. Reason for the JobNOTE: The two upper actuators are also known as the synchronized locking feedback actuators (SLFA) (FIN 3001KM1 and 3001KM4). The right hand lower actuator is also known as the synchronized manual locking actuator (SMLA) (FIN 3001KM2). The left hand lower actuator is also known as the synchronized non-locking actuator (SNLA) (FIN 3001KM3).

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-31-49-010-229-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System
Subtask 78-31-49-864-058-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). D. Depressurize the aircraft hydraulic systems
(1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the applicable system.
(a) On the HYD/FUEL panel 40VU of the overhead panel
(b) On the ground service panel of the applicable hydraulic system.
(2) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
(a) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(b) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system

(a) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system

E. Draining of the Thrust Reverser Hydraulic Tubes
(1) Drain the thrust reverser hydraulic tubes attached to the actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-49-680-801).
Subtask 78-31-49-010-230-A (1) Drain the thrust reverser hydraulic tubes attached to the actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-49-680-801).
F. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position immediately forward of the Direction Control Unit (DCU) and the upper left actuator.
(3) Disconnect the electrical harnesses as follows (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
(a) Disconnect the two electrical harnesses attached to the DCU (Ref. AMM TASK 71-51-43-000-806).
(b) Disconnect the two electrical harnesses attached to the proximity sensors on the upper left actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 71-51-43-000-806).
(c) Pull the disconnected ends of the electrical harnesses away from the work area to get access to the hydraulic tubes.
4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position immediately forward of the Direction Control Unit (DCU) and the upper left actuator.
(3) Disconnect the electrical harnesses as follows (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
(a) Disconnect the two electrical harnesses attached to the DCU (Ref. AMM TASK 71-51-43-000-806).
(b) Disconnect the two electrical harnesses attached to the proximity sensors on the upper left actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 71-51-43-000-806).
(c) Pull the disconnected ends of the electrical harnesses away from the work area to get access to the hydraulic tubes.
NOTE: It is not necessary to fully remove the electrical harnesses from the thrust reverser.
(4) Remove the upper flex tube and flex shaft from the thrust reverser (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-44-000-802). NOTE: The upper flex tube and flex shaft connect the two upper actuators together.
Subtask 78-31-49-020-192-A
A. Removal of the Thrust Reverser Hydraulic Tubes
(a) Move the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position immediately forward of the left-hand lower actuator.
(b) Remove the hydraulic tube (7) as follows:
1 Disconnect the pylon hose (17) from the hydraulic connection (8) on the hydraulic tube (7).
2 Remove the bulkhead fitting nut (16) and key washer (15) from the hydraulic connection (8) and the support bracket (3).
3 Loosen the bulkhead fitting nut (9) and key washer (10) on the hydraulic connection (8) and the support bracket (3).
4 Disconnect the coupling nut (6) from the DCU (4).
5 Disconnect the coupling nut (25) from the left upper actuator (24).
6 Remove the hydraulic tube (7) from the support bracket (3) and the thrust reverser.
7 Remove the nut (9) and the key washer (10) from the hydraulic connection (8).
8 Discard key washers (10) and (15).
(c) Remove the hydraulic tube (14) as follows:
1 Disconnect the pylon hose (18) from the hydraulic tube (14).
2 Remove the nut (1) and the key washer (2) from the hydraulic connection (11) on the hydraulic tube (14) and the support bracket (3).
3 Loosen the bulkhead fitting nut (12) and key washer (13) on the hydraulic connection (11) and the support bracket (3).
4 Disconnect the coupling nut (5) from the DCU (4).
5 Disconnect coupling nut (23) from the left upper actuator (24).
6 Remove the hydraulic tube (14) from the support bracket (3) and the thrust reverser.
7 Remove the nut (12) and the key washer (13) from the hydraulic connection (11).
8 Discard key washers (2) and (13).
(d) Remove the hydraulic tube (19) as follows:
1 Disconnect the coupling nut (26) from the DCU (4).
2 Disconnect coupling nut (20) from the T-fitting (118).
3 Remove the hydraulic tube (19) from the thrust reverser.
(e) Remove the hydraulic tube (22) as follows:
1 Make a record of the locations and positions of the P-clamps on the hydraulic tube (22) to help during installation.
2 Disconnect the coupling nut (21) from the left upper actuator (24).
3 From bottom to top, remove the bolts (34), (36), (38), (40) and (42) that attach the P-clamps (35), (37), (39), (41) and (43) to the support brackets (33), (32), (31), (30) and (29).
4 Disconnect the coupling nut (46) from the left lower actuator (47).
5 Remove the hydraulic tube (22) from the thrust reverser.
(f) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all open ports, open tubes, the open hoses and disconnected connectors.
(2) Removal of the Thrust Reverser Right Hydraulic Tubes
(a) Move the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position immediately forward of the right-hand lower actuator.
(b) Remove the hydraulic tube (59) as follows:
1 Make a record of the locations and positions of the P-clamps on the hydraulic tube (59) to help during installation.
2 Disconnect the pylon hose (53) from the hydraulic connection (58).
3 Remove the bulkhead fitting nut (54) and key washer (55) from the hydraulic connection (58) and the support bracket (69).
4 If necessary, loosen the bulkhead fitting nut (57) and key washer (56) on the hydraulic connection (58) and the support bracket (69).
5 Remove three bolts (60), (110) and (115) that attaches three P-clamps (61), (111) and (116) to the support brackets (65), (114), and (117).
7 Remove the hydraulic tube (59) from the support bracket (69) and the thrust reverser.
8 Remove the nut (57) and the key washer (56) from the hydraulic connection (58).
9 Discard key washers (55).
10 If damaged, discard key washer (56).
(c) Remove the hydraulic tube (64) as follows:
1 Make a record of the locations and positions of the P-clamps on the hydraulic tube (64) to help during installation.
2 Disconnect the pylon hose (50) from the hydraulic connection (66).
3 Remove the bulkhead fitting nut (51) and the key washer (52) from the hydraulic connection (66) and the support bracket (69).
4 Loosen the bulkhead fitting nut (67) and key washer (68) on the hydraulic connection (66) and the support bracket (69).
5 Remove the bolt (62) that attaches the P-clamp (63) to the support bracket (65).
6 Disconnect the coupling nut (72) from the right upper actuator (70).
7 Remove the hydraulic tube (64) from the support bracket (69) and the thrust reverser.
8 Remove the nut (67) and the key washer (68) from the hydraulic connection (66).
9 Discard key washers (68) and (52).
(d) Remove the hydraulic tube (74) as follows:
1 Make a record of the locations and positions of the P-clamps on the hydraulic tube (74) to help during installation.
2 Disconnect the coupling nut (73) from the right upper actuator (70).
3 From top to bottom, remove the bolts (88), (86), (84), (82) and (80) that attach the P-clamps (87), (85), (83), (81) and (79) to the support brackets (89), (90), (91), (92) and (93).
4 Disconnect the coupling nut (97) from the right lower actuator (96).
5 Remove the hydraulic tube (74) from the thrust reverser.
(e) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all open ports, open tubes, the open hoses and disconnected connectors.

CAUTION:
DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.
(1) Removal of the Thrust Reverser Left Hydraulic Tubes (a) Move the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position immediately forward of the left-hand lower actuator.
(b) Remove the hydraulic tube (7) as follows:
1 Disconnect the pylon hose (17) from the hydraulic connection (8) on the hydraulic tube (7).
2 Remove the bulkhead fitting nut (16) and key washer (15) from the hydraulic connection (8) and the support bracket (3).
3 Loosen the bulkhead fitting nut (9) and key washer (10) on the hydraulic connection (8) and the support bracket (3).
4 Disconnect the coupling nut (6) from the DCU (4).
5 Disconnect the coupling nut (25) from the left upper actuator (24).
6 Remove the hydraulic tube (7) from the support bracket (3) and the thrust reverser.
7 Remove the nut (9) and the key washer (10) from the hydraulic connection (8).
8 Discard key washers (10) and (15).
(c) Remove the hydraulic tube (14) as follows:
1 Disconnect the pylon hose (18) from the hydraulic tube (14).
2 Remove the nut (1) and the key washer (2) from the hydraulic connection (11) on the hydraulic tube (14) and the support bracket (3).
3 Loosen the bulkhead fitting nut (12) and key washer (13) on the hydraulic connection (11) and the support bracket (3).
4 Disconnect the coupling nut (5) from the DCU (4).
5 Disconnect coupling nut (23) from the left upper actuator (24).
6 Remove the hydraulic tube (14) from the support bracket (3) and the thrust reverser.
7 Remove the nut (12) and the key washer (13) from the hydraulic connection (11).
8 Discard key washers (2) and (13).
(d) Remove the hydraulic tube (19) as follows:
1 Disconnect the coupling nut (26) from the DCU (4).
2 Disconnect coupling nut (20) from the T-fitting (118).
3 Remove the hydraulic tube (19) from the thrust reverser.
(e) Remove the hydraulic tube (22) as follows:
1 Make a record of the locations and positions of the P-clamps on the hydraulic tube (22) to help during installation.
2 Disconnect the coupling nut (21) from the left upper actuator (24).
3 From bottom to top, remove the bolts (34), (36), (38), (40) and (42) that attach the P-clamps (35), (37), (39), (41) and (43) to the support brackets (33), (32), (31), (30) and (29).
4 Disconnect the coupling nut (46) from the left lower actuator (47).
5 Remove the hydraulic tube (22) from the thrust reverser.
(f) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all open ports, open tubes, the open hoses and disconnected connectors.
(2) Removal of the Thrust Reverser Right Hydraulic Tubes
(a) Move the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position immediately forward of the right-hand lower actuator.
(b) Remove the hydraulic tube (59) as follows:
1 Make a record of the locations and positions of the P-clamps on the hydraulic tube (59) to help during installation.
2 Disconnect the pylon hose (53) from the hydraulic connection (58).
3 Remove the bulkhead fitting nut (54) and key washer (55) from the hydraulic connection (58) and the support bracket (69).
4 If necessary, loosen the bulkhead fitting nut (57) and key washer (56) on the hydraulic connection (58) and the support bracket (69).
5 Remove three bolts (60), (110) and (115) that attaches three P-clamps (61), (111) and (116) to the support brackets (65), (114), and (117).
NOTE: If needed to gain access, remove the two bolts (113) and the harness support bracket (114).
6 Disconnect the coupling nut (76) from the right upper actuator (70). 7 Remove the hydraulic tube (59) from the support bracket (69) and the thrust reverser.
8 Remove the nut (57) and the key washer (56) from the hydraulic connection (58).
9 Discard key washers (55).
10 If damaged, discard key washer (56).
(c) Remove the hydraulic tube (64) as follows:
1 Make a record of the locations and positions of the P-clamps on the hydraulic tube (64) to help during installation.
2 Disconnect the pylon hose (50) from the hydraulic connection (66).
3 Remove the bulkhead fitting nut (51) and the key washer (52) from the hydraulic connection (66) and the support bracket (69).
4 Loosen the bulkhead fitting nut (67) and key washer (68) on the hydraulic connection (66) and the support bracket (69).
5 Remove the bolt (62) that attaches the P-clamp (63) to the support bracket (65).
6 Disconnect the coupling nut (72) from the right upper actuator (70).
7 Remove the hydraulic tube (64) from the support bracket (69) and the thrust reverser.
8 Remove the nut (67) and the key washer (68) from the hydraulic connection (66).
9 Discard key washers (68) and (52).
(d) Remove the hydraulic tube (74) as follows:
1 Make a record of the locations and positions of the P-clamps on the hydraulic tube (74) to help during installation.
2 Disconnect the coupling nut (73) from the right upper actuator (70).
3 From top to bottom, remove the bolts (88), (86), (84), (82) and (80) that attach the P-clamps (87), (85), (83), (81) and (79) to the support brackets (89), (90), (91), (92) and (93).
4 Disconnect the coupling nut (97) from the right lower actuator (96).
5 Remove the hydraulic tube (74) from the thrust reverser.
(e) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all open ports, open tubes, the open hoses and disconnected connectors.
