(a) Remove the eight screws (1) and the actuator access panel (2) from the translating cowl (3).
(b) Removal of the cotter pin (11):
(c) Remove the nut (8), washer (9), sleeve bushing (10) and the bolt (5).
(d) Disconnect the aft end of the actuator (6) from the fitting (7) attached to the translating cowl.
(2) Remove the one screw (27) and the p-clamp (28) from the hydraulic tube (12).
(3) Disconnect the hydraulic tube (12) from the actuator (6).
(4) Remove the two screws (20) and the locking plate (19) from the torque box (24).
(5) Remove the two screws (23), two washers (30) and the locking plate (22) from the torque box (24).
(6) Remove the two gimbal pins (21) from the actuator (6).

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-31-43-010-050-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Nacelle Maintenance
Subtask 78-31-43-010-053-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). D. Get Access
(1) Unlock the two upper actuators (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-41-040-802).
(2) Do the deactivation of the electrical tertiary lock system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-37-00-040-803).
Subtask 78-31-43-864-050-A (1) Unlock the two upper actuators (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-41-040-802).
(2) Do the deactivation of the electrical tertiary lock system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-37-00-040-803).
CAUTION:
DO NOT DEPLOY THE TRANSLATING COWL MORE THAN 254 MM (10 INCHES). WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER IS OPEN, THE TRANSLATING COWL CAN HIT THE WING AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE THRUST REVERSER AND THE WING.
(3) Manually deploy the translating cowl a minimum distance of 25 mm (0.98 in.) and a maximum distance of 51 mm (2.01 in.) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801). NOTE: Make sure that you count and keep a record of the number of turns at the Manual Drive Unit (MDU) (14).
E. Depressurization of the Hydraulic System
(1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the applicable system.
(a) On the HYD/FUEL panel 40VU of the overhead panel
(b) On the ground service panel of the applicable hydraulic system.
(2) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
(a) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(b) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(3) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
(a) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
(b) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

(a) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
(b) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
F. Put a MAT - PROTECTIVE in position under the hydraulic connections of the right hand lower actuator.
Subtask 78-31-43-680-050-A G. Drain the thrust reverser hydraulic tubes attached to the actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-49-680-801). But do not install the MDU (14) when the fluid has drained from the hydraulic thrust reverser actuation system (HTRAS).

GET INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR EMPLOYER ON WHICH PPE IS NECESSARY.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. ANY UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND SOME PARTS.
A. Removal of the Thrust Reverser Right Hand Lower Actuator NOTE: Put the CAP - PROTECTION on all open ports, tubes and hoses.
(1) Disconnect the aft end of the right hand lower actuator (actuator) (6) from the fitting (7) on the translating cowl (3) as follows: (a) Remove the eight screws (1) and the actuator access panel (2) from the translating cowl (3).
(b) Removal of the cotter pin (11):
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
1 Remove and discard the cotter pin (11) from the bolt (5). (c) Remove the nut (8), washer (9), sleeve bushing (10) and the bolt (5).
(d) Disconnect the aft end of the actuator (6) from the fitting (7) attached to the translating cowl.
(2) Remove the one screw (27) and the p-clamp (28) from the hydraulic tube (12).
(3) Disconnect the hydraulic tube (12) from the actuator (6).
(4) Remove the two screws (20) and the locking plate (19) from the torque box (24).
(5) Remove the two screws (23), two washers (30) and the locking plate (22) from the torque box (24).
(6) Remove the two gimbal pins (21) from the actuator (6).
NOTE: You can install an EXTRACTOR - SCREW in a gimbal pin to help remove it.
(7) Opening of the thrust reverser cowl doors: CAUTION:
DO NOT OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER IF YOU CANNOT STOW THE TRANSLATING COWL, AND THE TRANSLATING COWL IS DEPLOYED MORE THAN 10 INCHES (254 MM). IF YOU DO, THE TRANSLATING COWL CAN HIT THE WING AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a) Open the right hand thrust reverser cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):1 FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

(8) Remove the actuator (6) from the thrust reverser as follows:
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET THE ACTUATOR ROD TURN DURING THE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. IF IT TURNS, DESYNCHRONIZATION OF THE ACTUATOR WILL OCCUR. IT WILL THEN BE NECESSARY TO SEND THE ACTUATOR BACK TO SAFRAN FOR SYNCHRONIZATION.
(a) Carefully lift the actuator (6) and pull it in the forward direction to remove it from the thrust reverser.
