Removal of the NF Speed Probe

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
Subtask 77-11-22-010-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the right thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the right thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

Subtask 77-11-22-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the NF Speed Probe
(1) Make sure that you wipe clean all the parts and tools to remove contamination and to prevent damage to the engine.
(2) Find the NF speed probe (1) located approximately at the 1 o'clock position on the No. 1 and No. 1.5 bearing support assembly.
(3) Remove the inlet cone (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-000-801).
(4) Remove the fan blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-000-801).
(5) Remove the appropriate fan-exit liner segments (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-000-801).
(6) Remove the appropriate structural guide vane (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-02-000-803).
(7) Disconnect the wiring harness (WC04) connector (P44) from the probe receptacle (J44) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(8) Remove the NF speed probe (1) from the compressor intermediate-case (CIC) bulkhead and connector (2) as follows:
(a) Remove the two bolts (5) and the connector (2) from the bulkhead.
(b) Remove the two nuts (4), screws (3) and the eyelet.
(c) Remove the backshell from the connector (2).
(d) Use the M8196914-02 CONTACT INSERT EXTRACT TOOLM8196917-01 to remove the white wire from hole No. 3 on the connector (2).
(e) Use the M8196914-02 CONTACT INSERT EXTRACT TOOLM8196917-01 to remove the white wire with blue stripe from hole No. 2 on the connector (2).
(f) Remove the backshell from the cable end.
(9) Remove the NF speed probe cable from the spring clips.
(10) Remove the NF speed probe (1) from the No. 1 and No. 1.5 bearing support assembly and the fan intermediate case as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (14) and the clamp (15).
(b) Remove the two bolts (14) from the NF speed probe (1).
(c) Remove the cushion (17) if necessary.
(d) Remove the NF speed probe (1).
(11) Installation of protection covers:
(1) Make sure that you wipe clean all the parts and tools to remove contamination and to prevent damage to the engine.
(2) Find the NF speed probe (1) located approximately at the 1 o'clock position on the No. 1 and No. 1.5 bearing support assembly.
(3) Remove the inlet cone (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-000-801).
(4) Remove the fan blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-000-801).
(5) Remove the appropriate fan-exit liner segments (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-000-801).
(6) Remove the appropriate structural guide vane (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-02-000-803).
(7) Disconnect the wiring harness (WC04) connector (P44) from the probe receptacle (J44) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(8) Remove the NF speed probe (1) from the compressor intermediate-case (CIC) bulkhead and connector (2) as follows:
(a) Remove the two bolts (5) and the connector (2) from the bulkhead.
(b) Remove the two nuts (4), screws (3) and the eyelet.
(c) Remove the backshell from the connector (2).
(d) Use the M8196914-02 CONTACT INSERT EXTRACT TOOLM8196917-01
(e) Use the M8196914-02 CONTACT INSERT EXTRACT TOOLM8196917-01
(f) Remove the backshell from the cable end.
(9) Remove the NF speed probe cable from the spring clips.
(10) Remove the NF speed probe (1) from the No. 1 and No. 1.5 bearing support assembly and the fan intermediate case as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (14) and the clamp (15).
(b) Remove the two bolts (14) from the NF speed probe (1).
(c) Remove the cushion (17) if necessary.
(d) Remove the NF speed probe (1).
NOTE: Identify the path of the NF speed probe cable.
(e) Remove and discard the two packings (16) from the NF speed probe (1). (11) Installation of protection covers:
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
