Removal of the Inlet Cone

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833)
(2) Put the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER in the intake cowl.

(2) Put the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER in the intake cowl.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 72-11-01-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Removal of the Inlet Cone
(1) Find the inlet cone (1) on the front of the engine attached to the fan hub.
(2) Remove the five bolts (3), the washers (2) and the inlet cone cover (4).
(3) Put an alignment mark on the inside of the inlet cone (1) and on the hub with the applicable marker (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-00-910-801).
(4) Install the PWA111017 FIXTURE, SUPPORT as follows:
(b) Install the PWA111017 FIXTURE, SUPPORT to the fan case.
(c) Loosen the large hand knob.
(d) Lift the bracket assembly until it engages with the inlet cone (1) and tighten the drive nut.
(e) Install the three small hand knobs to the front of the inlet cone (1).
(f) Tighten the three small hand knobs and the large hand knob.
(5) Remove the inlet cone (1). If necessary, use the PWA211790 PULLER, JACKSCREW as follows:
(b) Install the PWA211790 PULLER, JACKSCREW into the inlet cone (1) opening.
(c) Align the plate with the fan shaft center.
(d) Move the two clamps out radially and tighten the two hand knobs handtight to attach the PWA211790 PULLER, JACKSCREW to the inlet cone (1).
(e) Turn the handle clockwise to disengage the inlet cone (1) from the fan hub and the lock ring.
(f) Loosen the two hand knobs and remove the PWA211790 PULLER, JACKSCREW from the inlet cone (1).
(h) Remove the PWA111017 FIXTURE, SUPPORT from the fan case.
(6) Installation of the protection covers:
(1) Find the inlet cone (1) on the front of the engine attached to the fan hub.
(2) Remove the five bolts (3), the washers (2) and the inlet cone cover (4).
(3) Put an alignment mark on the inside of the inlet cone (1) and on the hub with the applicable marker (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-00-910-801).
(4) Install the PWA111017 FIXTURE, SUPPORT as follows:
NOTE: If two or more persons are used to remove the inlet cone, it is not necessary to use the PWA111017 FIXTURE, SUPPORT.
(a) Loosen the drive nut and lower the bracket assembly of the PWA111017 FIXTURE, SUPPORT.(b) Install the PWA111017 FIXTURE, SUPPORT to the fan case.
(c) Loosen the large hand knob.
(d) Lift the bracket assembly until it engages with the inlet cone (1) and tighten the drive nut.
(e) Install the three small hand knobs to the front of the inlet cone (1).
(f) Tighten the three small hand knobs and the large hand knob.
(5) Remove the inlet cone (1). If necessary, use the PWA211790 PULLER, JACKSCREW as follows:
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE A METAL TOOL TO DISASSEMBLE THE INLET CONE FROM THE FAN HUB. IF YOU USE A METAL TOOL, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO ENGINE PARTS.
(a) Remove the five bolts (15) and the washers (14) from the fan hub and the lock ring.(b) Install the PWA211790 PULLER, JACKSCREW into the inlet cone (1) opening.
(c) Align the plate with the fan shaft center.
(d) Move the two clamps out radially and tighten the two hand knobs handtight to attach the PWA211790 PULLER, JACKSCREW to the inlet cone (1).
(e) Turn the handle clockwise to disengage the inlet cone (1) from the fan hub and the lock ring.
(f) Loosen the two hand knobs and remove the PWA211790 PULLER, JACKSCREW from the inlet cone (1).
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE INLET CONE. THE INLET CONE CAN FALL AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(g) Loosen the three small hand knobs and remove the inlet cone (1).(h) Remove the PWA111017 FIXTURE, SUPPORT from the fan case.
(6) Installation of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
