Installation of the Left Variable Bleed Valve (VBV) Actuator

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 75-31-05-010-054-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 75-31-05-010-055-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the left thrust-reverser cowl-doors is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the left thrust-reverser cowl-doors is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

Subtask 75-31-05-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Left VBV Actuator
(1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and disconnected connectors.
(2) Put the left VBV actuator (51) in position on the fan hub frame (1).
(3) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (56) and (57) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
(4) Install the bolt (57) that attaches the left VBV actuator (51) to the actuator turnbuckle clevis (58).
(5) TORQUE the bolt (57) to between 101.8 and 92.2 lbf.in (1.15 and 1.04 m.daN )
.
(6) Install the three captive bolts (56) that attach the left VBV actuator (51) to the fan hub frame (1).
(7) TORQUE the three bolts (56) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
.
(8) Apply dry lubricant under the head of the bonding strap bolt (59) with Molykote G-n.
(9) Secure the bonding strap (60) to the left VBV actuator (51) with the bonding strap bolt (59).
(10) TORQUE the bonding strap bolt (59) to between 87 and 73 lbf.in (0.98 and 0.82 m.daN )
.
(11) Put the new EIPC 73-00-00-20-750 GASKET SEAL (52) between the VBV-VSV fuel-hydraulic manifold (55) and the left VBV actuator (51).
(12) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the threads of the four bolts (54).
(13) Install the four bolts (54) that attach the VBV-VSV fuel-hydraulic manifold (55) to the left VBV actuator (51).
(14) TORQUE the four bolts (54) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )

(15) Connect the electrical connector(s):
(16) Put the VBV duct (61) into the air duct (63) and secure with the hose clamp (62).
(17) Install segment shroud 5 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
Subtask 75-31-05-710-050-A 5. Close-up(1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and disconnected connectors.
(2) Put the left VBV actuator (51) in position on the fan hub frame (1).
(3) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (56) and (57) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
(4) Install the bolt (57) that attaches the left VBV actuator (51) to the actuator turnbuckle clevis (58).
(5) TORQUE the bolt (57) to between 101.8 and 92.2 lbf.in (1.15 and 1.04 m.daN )
. (6) Install the three captive bolts (56) that attach the left VBV actuator (51) to the fan hub frame (1).
(7) TORQUE the three bolts (56) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
. (8) Apply dry lubricant under the head of the bonding strap bolt (59) with Molykote G-n.
(9) Secure the bonding strap (60) to the left VBV actuator (51) with the bonding strap bolt (59).
(10) TORQUE the bonding strap bolt (59) to between 87 and 73 lbf.in (0.98 and 0.82 m.daN )
. (11) Put the new EIPC 73-00-00-20-750 GASKET SEAL (52) between the VBV-VSV fuel-hydraulic manifold (55) and the left VBV actuator (51).
(12) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the threads of the four bolts (54).
(13) Install the four bolts (54) that attach the VBV-VSV fuel-hydraulic manifold (55) to the left VBV actuator (51).
(14) TORQUE the four bolts (54) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
. (15) Connect the electrical connector(s):
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a) Connect the electrical connector (53) to the left VBV actuator (51) receptacle: CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT:
- YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTOR UNDER STRESS, AND
- THE CONNECTOR DOES NOT MOVE AFTER YOU FULLY ENGAGE IT.
CAUTION:
TIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTOR UNTIL YOU CANNOT SEE THE COLOR MARK ON THE RECEPTACLE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM CAN OCCUR.
1 Tighten the coupling ring. Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804). (16) Put the VBV duct (61) into the air duct (63) and secure with the hose clamp (62).
(17) Install segment shroud 5 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the left thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
