Read the CLASS 3 Report (Menu Mode)

1. Reason for the Job
The CLASS 3 Report, accessible in Menu Mode, provides all Class 3 faults detected by the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) during the last 64 flight legs that are not annunciated to the flight crew or maintenance teams during normal operation or via the post flight report. The CLASS 3 Report is used to review the faults detected in order to take corrective action during a scheduled maintenance check.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Push the FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch.
(b) The ON legend of this pushbutton switch comes on.
(2) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
(a) Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
(b) Install a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell the persons not to use it.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the High Pressure (HP) ground connector to tell the persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
(4) On the overhead panel, on the ADIRS CDU, set the three OFF/NAV/ATT selector switches to NAV.
(5) On the left or right Multipurpose Control & Display Unit (MCDU), get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST ENG menu page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-001).

4. Procedure

NOTE: EEC Menu Mode will end without displaying a termination screen if any of the conditions that follow occur: The RETURN key is selected on the main menu screen. Engine start is detected. Mach is more than 0.12 or invalid. Aircraft indicates it is in air.

A. General
(1) The CLASS 3 Report contains a maximum of 100 most recent CLASS 3 faults for the last 64 flight legs. A maximum of 12 total faults are displayed per flight leg. The faults captured in the CLASS 3 Report are not displayed to the flight crew or maintenance teams during normal operation or via post flight report.
(2) Fault description and troubleshooting guidance is provided the AMM Trouble Shooting Manual (TSM).

B. Review the CLASS 3 Report in Menu Mode

NOTE: The EEC will not enter the menu mode (interactive mode) after an inquire command from the Centralized Fault Display System (CFDS) when any of the following conditions are set:

N2 more than ten percent or invalid
Rotary selector on CRANK or IGN/START or invalid
Manual Start Button on ON or invalid
Throttle Lever Angle (TLA) not at idle or invalid
Aircraft in the air
MASTER lever ON or invalid
BITE command code input label invalid.

ACTION	RESULT
1.Initialize Menu Mode on the applicable engine and EEC channel by selecting FADEC XY (X = Engine position, Y = EEC channel).	The Menu Mode main menu is displayed for the applicable engine and EEC channel. Menu Mode Main Menu Screen
2.From the Menu Mode main menu, select the key adjacent to CLASS 3 REPORT (5L).	The CLASS 3 Report screen is displayed, providing fault information. CLASS 3 Report Screen
	NOTE: Fault information may be displayed on multiple screens depending on the number of faults detected.
	If no CLASS 3 Report faults have been detected, the CLASS 3 Report no faults recorded screen is displayed. CLASS 3 Report No Faults Recorded Screen
	If electronic engine control non-volatile memory is corrupted and the EEC is unable to retrieve the relevant faults and/or information, the CLASS 3 Report Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) fault screen is displayed. CLASS 3 Report NVM Fault Screen Verify no electronic engine control non-volatile memory, cross-channel data link or Central Processing Unit (CPU) faults are present (follow corrective action per TSM if the faults present) and re-attempt to review the CLASS 3 Report. If again unsuccessful, attempt to review the CLASS 3 Report on the opposite EEC channel.
3.Review the CLASS 3 Report fault maintenance information displayed on the screen. Address the active faults as necessary per TSM.
4.When complete, select the key adjacent to RETURN to return to the Menu Mode main menu.	The Menu Mode main menu is displayed for the applicable engine and EEC channel. Menu Mode Main Menu Screen
5.Do the steps above again for the other EEC channel. Each EEC channel only displays faults for that channel. The report must be run on both channels to get all Class 3 faults.

5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(2) Release the FADEC pushbutton switch.
(3) On the ADIRS CDU, set the three OFF/NAV/ATT selector switches to OFF.
(4) Close the OMS session (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
