A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-21-50-010-216-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 73-21-50-010-217-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041). D. Open the Thrust Reverser Doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040):

(3) Remove the CJ12L wiring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-027).
(4) Remove the CJ12R wiring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-028).
(5) Remove the CJ13 wiring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-029).
(6) Remove the HJ7 wiring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-040).
(7) Remove the HJ8 wiring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-041).
(8) Remove the HJ9 wiring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-042).

NOTE: This repair procedure is applicable for the fan wiring harnesses (HJ7, HJ8, HJ9, HJ10 and DPM ), 6 o'clock strut harnesses (HJ11, HJ12 and HJ13) and core engine wiring harnesses (CJ11L, CJ11R, CJ12L, CJ12R and CJ13).
NOTE: This repair procedure is temporary. You must do a permanent repair at not later than the next engine shop visit.

(a) Cut all loose parts of the outer sheath with PLIERS - END-CUTTING.
(2) Alternative Procedure
(a) Cut all loose strands of the metallic sheath with PLIERS - END-CUTTING.

B. Cleaning of the Outer Sheath
Subtask 73-21-50-350-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(1) Clean the outer sheath, in and around the area you will repair with lint-free cloth (Material No.CP2674) wet with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) . C. Do These Steps to Repair the Harness
(1) Examine the area you will repair for penetration into harness Cu-Ni and for foreign material entrapped in the metallic inner sheath.
(2) Do these steps to apply the silicone rubber tape:
(a) Use the silicone rubber tape (Material No.CP2682) .
(b) Apply the tape around the sheath as follows:
1 Start at Dimension A and wind the tape one-half width before the cut and stop one-half width after the cut area to Dimension B.
2 Apply the tape in the same direction with one-half width overlay at each turn.
3 Cut the tape with an SCISSORS.
Subtask 73-21-50-210-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Examine the area you will repair for penetration into harness Cu-Ni and for foreign material entrapped in the metallic inner sheath.
NOTE: Penetration into harness Cu-Ni can cause an incorrect insulation of the harness.
(a) Penetration is not permitted, replace the harness. (2) Do these steps to apply the silicone rubber tape:
(a) Use the silicone rubber tape (Material No.CP2682) .
(b) Apply the tape around the sheath as follows:

2 Apply the tape in the same direction with one-half width overlay at each turn.
3 Cut the tape with an SCISSORS.
D. Examine the Repaired Areas of the Harness for a Correct Repair
(1) A bad tape bonding on the parent material.
(a) No lift is permitted, do the repair again.
(2) A bad tape winding up.
(a) No nick and dent is permitted, do the repair again.
