A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:

The ENG/MODE selector switch
The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.

(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-11-05-210-050-A

A. Do the visual inspection of the main fuel pump:

Inspection/Check	Maximum Serviceable Limits	Remarks
1.Examine the main fuel pump for:
(a) Signs of fuel leaks	Not permitted.	If you see signs of fuel leaks, replace the main fuel pump seals (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-05-000-801) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-05-400-801).
(b) Make sure that the main fuel pump is not loose.	Not permitted.	If the main fuel pump is loose, tighten the mounting bolts (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-05-400-801).
(c) Nicks, dents or scratches	For the low pressure cover, permitted if they are less than 0.030 in. (0.76 mm) in depth after removal of high metal. For the gear housing, permitted if they are less than 0.010 in. (0.25 mm) in depth after removal of high metal. Not permitted across mating joints, sealing surfaces or seal grooves.
(d) Cracks	Not permitted.	If you see cracks in the main fuel pump, replace the main fuel pump (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-05-400-801).
(e) Loose fuel supply hose at the inlet of the main fuel pump	Not permitted.	If loose, tighten the main fuel supply hose (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-05-400-801). If the fuel supply hose is not loose but there is a fuel leak, replace the fuel supply hose seal (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-05-400-801).
