Removal of the Main Fuel Pump
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-11-05-010-050-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

A. Removal the Main Fuel Pump
(2) Drain the fuel from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(b) Removal of the drain plug (3) from the main fuel pump (1):
1 Cut and discard the safetywire from the drain plug (3).
2 Remove the drain plug (3) from the main fuel pump (1).
3 Let the fuel drain in the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).
4 Remove and discard the gasket (4) from the drain plug (3).
(c) Installation of the drain plug (3) on the main fuel pump (1):
1 Lubricate the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-080 GASKET (4) with the vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
2 Install the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-080 GASKET (4) on the drain plug (3).
3 Install the drain plug (3) in the correct position and tighten it with your hand.
4 TORQUE the drain plug (3) to between 210 and 190 lbf.in (2.37 and 2.15 m.daN ).
5 Safety the drain plug (3).
a Safety with the safetywire (Material No.CP8001) on the drain plug (3).
(d) Removal of the drain plug (5) from the main fuel pump (1):
1 Cut and discard the safetywire from the drain plug (5).
2 Remove the drain plug (5) from the main fuel pump (1).
3 Let the fuel drain in the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).
4 Remove and discard the O-ring (6) from the drain plug (5).
(e) Installation of the drain plug (5) on the main fuel pump (1):
1 Lubricate the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-060 O-RING (6) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
2 Install the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-060 O-RING (6) on the drain plug (5).
3 Install the drain plug (5) in the correct position and tighten it with your hand.
4 TORQUE the drain plug (5) to between 16 and 13 lbf.in (0.18 and 0.15 m.daN ).
5 Safety the drain plug (5).
a Safety with the safetywire (Material No.CP8001) on the drain plug (5).
(3) Disconnection of the fuel tube (7) from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (8) from the fuel tube (7).
(b) Disconnect the fuel tube (7) from the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (9).
(4) Disconnection of the fuel tube (10) from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (11) from the fuel tube (10).
(b) Disconnect the fuel tube (10) from the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (12).
(5) Disconnection of the fuel tube (13) from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (14) from the fuel tube (13).
(b) Disconnect the fuel tube (13) from the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (15).
(6) Disconnection of the fuel tube (16) from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (17) from the fuel tube (16).
(b) Disconnect the fuel tube (16) from the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (18).
(7) Removal of the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Install the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP on the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
(b) Remove the bolt (19) at 11 o'clock position that attach the main fuel pump (1) to the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) input pad (23).
(c) Move the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE to the correct position.
(d) Install the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP on the main fuel pump (1).
(e) Remove the other four bolts (19) that attach the main fuel pump (1) to the AGB input pad (23).
(f) Carefully pull the main fuel pump (1) rearward until the splines of the drive shaft (20) disengage from the AGB (2).
(g) Remove and discard the O-ring (21) from the groove of the main fuel pump (1).
(h) Remove and discard the O-ring (22) from the groove of drive shaft (20).
(i) Remove the main fuel pump (1) from the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP.
(8) Install CAP - PROTECTION and COVER - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
(9) Preservation of the main fuel pump:
(a) In the event of shipping or prolonged storage, preserve the main fuel pump (1) per theCMM 731105 .
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL SAFETYWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT SAFETYWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE SAFETYWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING:
USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THIS COMPONENT. THE WEIGHT OF THIS COMPONENT IS 36.1 LBS (16.4 KG). YOU MUST GET SUFFICIENT AID FROM OTHER PERSONNEL AND THE APPLICABLE EQUIPMENT TO HOLD THE COMPONENT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURIES TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the main fuel pump (1). (2) Drain the fuel from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(b) Removal of the drain plug (3) from the main fuel pump (1):
1 Cut and discard the safetywire from the drain plug (3).
2 Remove the drain plug (3) from the main fuel pump (1).
3 Let the fuel drain in the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).
4 Remove and discard the gasket (4) from the drain plug (3).
(c) Installation of the drain plug (3) on the main fuel pump (1):
1 Lubricate the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-080 GASKET (4) with the vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
2 Install the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-080 GASKET (4) on the drain plug (3).
3 Install the drain plug (3) in the correct position and tighten it with your hand.
4 TORQUE the drain plug (3) to between 210 and 190 lbf.in (2.37 and 2.15 m.daN )
.5 Safety the drain plug (3).
a Safety with the safetywire (Material No.CP8001) on the drain plug (3).
(d) Removal of the drain plug (5) from the main fuel pump (1):
1 Cut and discard the safetywire from the drain plug (5).
2 Remove the drain plug (5) from the main fuel pump (1).
3 Let the fuel drain in the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL).
4 Remove and discard the O-ring (6) from the drain plug (5).
(e) Installation of the drain plug (5) on the main fuel pump (1):
1 Lubricate the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-060 O-RING (6) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
2 Install the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-060 O-RING (6) on the drain plug (5).
3 Install the drain plug (5) in the correct position and tighten it with your hand.
4 TORQUE the drain plug (5) to between 16 and 13 lbf.in (0.18 and 0.15 m.daN )
.5 Safety the drain plug (5).
a Safety with the safetywire (Material No.CP8001) on the drain plug (5).
(3) Disconnection of the fuel tube (7) from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (8) from the fuel tube (7).
(b) Disconnect the fuel tube (7) from the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (9).
(4) Disconnection of the fuel tube (10) from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (11) from the fuel tube (10).
(b) Disconnect the fuel tube (10) from the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (12).
(5) Disconnection of the fuel tube (13) from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (14) from the fuel tube (13).
(b) Disconnect the fuel tube (13) from the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (15).
(6) Disconnection of the fuel tube (16) from the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (17) from the fuel tube (16).
(b) Disconnect the fuel tube (16) from the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (18).
(7) Removal of the main fuel pump (1):
(a) Install the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP on the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
(b) Remove the bolt (19) at 11 o'clock position that attach the main fuel pump (1) to the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) input pad (23).
(c) Move the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE to the correct position.
(d) Install the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP on the main fuel pump (1).
(e) Remove the other four bolts (19) that attach the main fuel pump (1) to the AGB input pad (23).
(f) Carefully pull the main fuel pump (1) rearward until the splines of the drive shaft (20) disengage from the AGB (2).
(g) Remove and discard the O-ring (21) from the groove of the main fuel pump (1).
(h) Remove and discard the O-ring (22) from the groove of drive shaft (20).
(i) Remove the main fuel pump (1) from the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP.
(8) Install CAP - PROTECTION and COVER - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
(9) Preservation of the main fuel pump:
(a) In the event of shipping or prolonged storage, preserve the main fuel pump (1) per the
