Installation of the Main Fuel Pump
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-11-05-010-051-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

A. Installation of the Main Fuel Pump
(2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(3) Install the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP on the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
(4) Install the main fuel pump (1) on the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP.
(5) Install the main fuel pump (1) in the correct position on the engine.
(6) Lubricate the threads of the five bolts (19), the splines of the drive shaft (20), the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-030 O-RING (21) and the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-040 O-RING (22) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(7) Install the new O-ring (22) in the groove of the drive shaft (20).
(9) Align the drive shaft (20) of the main fuel pump (1) with the splines of the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) (2).
(10) Carefully push the drive shaft (20) of the main fuel pump (1) in the AGB (2).
(11) Make sure that the mating flange of the main fuel pump (1) fully engages with the AGB input pad (23).
(12) Install the five bolts (19) on the main fuel pump (1) and tighten them with your hand.
(13) TORQUE the four bolts (19) that follow in a criss-cross pattern:
(a) TORQUE four bolts (19) to between 105 and 95 lbf.in (1.19 and 1.07 m.daN )

(b) TORQUE four bolts (19) to between 210 and 190 lbf.in (2.37 and 2.15 m.daN )
.
(c) TORQUE four bolts (19) to between 420 and 380 lbf.in (4.75 and 4.29 m.daN )
.
(14) Remove the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP from the main fuel pump (1).
(15) Install the last bolt (19) at 11 O'clock on the main fuel pump (1) and tighten by hand.
(16) TORQUE the last bolt (19) to between 420 and 380 lbf.in (4.75 and 4.29 m.daN )

(17) Connection of the fuel tube (16) to the main fuel pump (1).
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (17) and new EIPC 73-11-05-01-110 GASKET (18) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new gasket (18) and the fuel tube (16) in the correct position on the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Install the four bolts (17) on the fuel tube (16) and tighten by hand.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (17) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )

(18) Connection of the fuel tube (13) to the main fuel pump (1).
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (14) and new EIPC 73-11-05-01-130 GASKET (15) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new gasket (15) and the fuel tube (13) in the correct position on the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Install the four bolts (14) on the fuel tube (13) and tighten them with your hand.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (14) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )

(19) Connection of the fuel tube (10) to the main fuel pump (1).
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (11) and the new AIPC 73-11-46-02-060 GASKET (12) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new gasket (12) and the fuel tube (10) in the correct position on the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Install the four bolts (11) on the fuel tube (10) and tighten them with your hand.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (11) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )

(20) Connection of the fuel tube (7) to the main fuel pump (1).
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (8) and the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-150 GASKET (9) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new gasket (9) and the fuel tube (7) in the correct position on the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Install the four bolts (8) on the fuel tube (7) and tighten them with your hand.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (8) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )

5. Close-upWARNING:
USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THIS COMPONENT. THE WEIGHT OF THIS COMPONENT IS 36.1 LBS (16.4 KG). YOU MUST GET SUFFICIENT AID FROM OTHER PERSONNEL AND THE APPLICABLE EQUIPMENT TO HOLD THE COMPONENT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURIES TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1) Remove all CAP - PROTECTION and COVER - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors. (2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(3) Install the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP on the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
(4) Install the main fuel pump (1) on the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP.
(5) Install the main fuel pump (1) in the correct position on the engine.
(6) Lubricate the threads of the five bolts (19), the splines of the drive shaft (20), the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-030 O-RING (21) and the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-040 O-RING (22) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(7) Install the new O-ring (22) in the groove of the drive shaft (20).
NOTE: You can use the optional 956A7604G01 KIT, INSTALL - EQUIPMENTS O-RING, AGB tool to install the O-ring (22) on the main fuel pump (1) splined drive shaft (20).
(8) Install the new O-ring (21) in the groove of the main fuel pump (1). (9) Align the drive shaft (20) of the main fuel pump (1) with the splines of the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) (2).
(10) Carefully push the drive shaft (20) of the main fuel pump (1) in the AGB (2).
(11) Make sure that the mating flange of the main fuel pump (1) fully engages with the AGB input pad (23).
(12) Install the five bolts (19) on the main fuel pump (1) and tighten them with your hand.
(13) TORQUE the four bolts (19) that follow in a criss-cross pattern:
(a) TORQUE four bolts (19) to between 105 and 95 lbf.in (1.19 and 1.07 m.daN )

. (14) Remove the 956A1608 ADAPTER, FUEL PUMP from the main fuel pump (1).
(15) Install the last bolt (19) at 11 O'clock on the main fuel pump (1) and tighten by hand.
(16) TORQUE the last bolt (19) to between 420 and 380 lbf.in (4.75 and 4.29 m.daN )
. (17) Connection of the fuel tube (16) to the main fuel pump (1).
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (17) and new EIPC 73-11-05-01-110 GASKET (18) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new gasket (18) and the fuel tube (16) in the correct position on the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Install the four bolts (17) on the fuel tube (16) and tighten by hand.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (17) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )
. (18) Connection of the fuel tube (13) to the main fuel pump (1).
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (14) and new EIPC 73-11-05-01-130 GASKET (15) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new gasket (15) and the fuel tube (13) in the correct position on the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Install the four bolts (14) on the fuel tube (13) and tighten them with your hand.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (14) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )
. (19) Connection of the fuel tube (10) to the main fuel pump (1).
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (11) and the new AIPC 73-11-46-02-060 GASKET (12) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new gasket (12) and the fuel tube (10) in the correct position on the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Install the four bolts (11) on the fuel tube (10) and tighten them with your hand.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (11) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )
. (20) Connection of the fuel tube (7) to the main fuel pump (1).
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (8) and the new EIPC 73-11-05-01-150 GASKET (9) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new gasket (9) and the fuel tube (7) in the correct position on the main fuel pump (1).
(c) Install the four bolts (8) on the fuel tube (7) and tighten them with your hand.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (8) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
