WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-62-00-210-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. GVI of the Angle Gearbox
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Find the angle gearbox module attached to the compressor intermediate case at the 6 o'clock position.
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the angle gearbox as follows:
     (a) Clean the angle gearbox, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-01-100-801).
     (b) Do a visual inspection of the angle gearbox for cracks and corrosion with the FLASHLIGHT. Refer to table 1.
     (c) Examine the angle gearbox for oil leakage from all plugs, chip detectors and parting surfaces. Leaks are not permitted, correct all leaks as necessary.
     (d) Do a visual inspection of the angle gearbox for loose, missing or broken mount and layshaft bolts. Refer to table 2.
     (e) Do a visual inspection of the angle gearbox output drive. Refer to table 3.

Not permitted. Replace the angle gearbox (Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-01-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-01-400-801).
For corrosion
Depth of corrosion is less than 0.035 in. (0.889 mm).
Gearbox is permitted to continue in service.

Depth of corrosion is more than 0.035 in. (0.889 mm).
Not permitted. Replace the angle gearbox (Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-01-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-01-400-801).

Total surface area with corrosion is less than 1.00 in.2 (645.16 mm2). See the NOTE below the table.
Gearbox is permitted to continue in service.

Not permitted. Replace the angle gearbox (Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-01-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-01-400-801).
