Replacement of the Deoiler Drive Oil Seal

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU HANDLE THE OIL SEAL. DO NOT CAUSE SCRATCHES OR DAMAGE TO THE CARBON SEALING SURFACE DURING HANDLING OR INSTALLATION. IF THE CARBON SEALING SURFACE IS DAMAGED, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE SEAL ASSEMBLY.
CAUTION: YOU MUST NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT-FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 72-61-01-010-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the gearbox breather tube (Ref. AMM TASK 79-23-49-000-802).
Subtask 72-61-01-350-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Replacement of the Deoiler Drive Oil-Seal
   (1) Remove the overboard breather (3) as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the deoiler pad.
     (b) Remove the three bolts (1) and washers (2) from the overboard breather (3).
     (c) Remove the overboard breather (3) from the deoiler pad.
     (d) Remove and discard the packing (4) from the overboard breather (3).
   (2) Remove the deoiler oil seal (14) as follows:
     (a) Install the PWA211134 SEAL EXTRACTOR on the oil seal (14).
     (b) Use the PWA211134 SEAL EXTRACTOR to remove the oil seal (14) from the gearbox.
     (c) Remove the oil seal (14) from the PWA211134 SEAL EXTRACTOR.
     (d) Remove and discard the packing (15) from the oil seal (14).
   (3) Remove the mating ring (25) from the deoiler gearshaft as follows:
     (a) Prepare the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL as follows:
       1 Make sure that the fingers of the bush are open. If not, fully turn the outer sleeve counterclockwise.
       2 Fully turn the shaft clockwise to lower the centering.
     (b) Put the centering in position onto the deoiler gearshaft.
     (c) Make sure that the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL aligns with the deoiler gearshaft.
     (d) Turn the shaft counterclockwise until the protector touches the mating ring (25).
     (e) Turn the outer sleeve clockwise until the fingers engage the mating ring (25).
     (f) Hold the handle and turn the shaft clockwise until you remove the mating ring (25).
     (g) Fully turn the outer sleeve counterclockwise to disengage the mating ring (25).
     (h) Remove the mating ring (25).
     (i) Remove the packing (26) from the mating ring (25) and discard it.
   (4) Install the mating ring (25) on the deoiler gearshaft as follows:
     (a) Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine on a new EIPC 72-61-01-02-122 PACKING (26).
     (b) Install the packing (26) on the mating ring (25).
     (c) Make sure that the packing (26) is correctly installed into its groove.
     (d) Prepare the
PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL as follows:
       1 Make sure that the fingers of the bush are open. If not, fully turn the outer sleeve counterclockwise.
       2 Fully turn the shaft counterclockwise to lift the centering.
     (e) Install the mating ring (25) on the deoiler gearshaft as follows:
       1 Install the mating ring (25) on the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL.
NOTE: The four antirotation tabs of the mating ring must point to the deoiler gearshaft.
       2 Turn the outer sleeve clockwise until the fingers engage the mating ring (25).
     (f) Align the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL with the deoiler gearshaft.
     (g) Put the mating ring (25) on the deoiler gearshaft and push until it stops.
NOTE: If the mating ring (25) is correctly installed, the deoiler gearshaft turns together with the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL.
     (h) Make sure that the four antirotation tabs of the mating ring (25) engage with the slots on the bearing.
     (i) Fully turn the outer sleeve counterclockwise to disengage the mating ring (25).
     (j) Remove the PWA211774 PULLER, MECHANICAL.
   (5) Make sure that the mating ring (25) is correctly installed as follows:
     (a) Put the PWA211779 TESTER, GAGE in position on the deoiler gearshaft.
     (b) Push until the PWA211779 TESTER, GAGE stops and hold it in position.
     (c) Look at the pin.
       1 If you cannot see the red band of the pin, the mating ring (25) is correctly installed.
       2 Go to step 4.B.(6).
       3 If you can see the red band of the pin, the mating ring (25) is not correctly installed.
       4 Remove the mating ring (25). Refer to step 4.B.(3).
       5 Do step 4.B.(4) thru step 4.B.(5) again.
   (6) Install the deoiler oil seal (14) as follows:
     (a) Examine the inside of the mount pad and wipe it clean with a P05-005wipe, lint-free.
     (b) Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine on a new EIPC 72-61-01-02-110 PACKING (15).
     (c) Install the packing (15) in the groove on the oil seal (14).
     (d) Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine on the face of the oil seal (14).
     (e) Install the oil seal (14) equally and in small increments on the mount pad of the main gearbox.
       1 Make sure that the oil seal (14) is fully engaged in the main gearbox.
   (7) Install the overboard breather (3) as follows:
     (a) Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine on a new EIPC 72-61-01-02-130 PACKING (4).
     (b) Install the packing (4) on the overboard breather (3).
     (c) Apply P06-054compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the three bolts (1).
     (d) Attach the overboard breather (3) on the deoiler drive pad with the three bolts (1) and washers (2).
     (e) Make sure that the locking torque of the bolts (1) is between 4 lbf.in (0.05 m.daN) and 33 lbf.in (0.37 m.daN).
       1 If the locking torque is out of the limits, discard the bolt (1).
     (f) TORQUE the bolts (1) to between 95 and 78 lbf.in (1.07 and 0.88 m.daN )

   (8) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.

   (2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
