Removal of the Gearbox Breather Tube

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE OIL AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
Subtask 79-23-49-010-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 79-23-49-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Removal of the Gearbox Breather Tube
(1) Find the gearbox breather tube (LB60) (1) attached to the Main Gearbox (MGB) at the 6 o'clock position.
(2) Remove the gearbox breather tube (LB60) (1) from the MGB as follows:
(a) Remove the two bolts (4) and the three bolts (5).
(b) Remove the clamp (3) and the two clamps (6).
(d) Remove the metering plug (2) from the tube (LD60).
(e) Remove the three bolts (9).
(f) Remove the bracket (8).
(g) Remove the tube (LB60) (1) from the MGB.
(h) Remove the seal (7).
(i) Do an inspection of the face seal (7) to find if it is possible to use it again (Ref. AMM TASK 79-23-49-400-802).
(3) Installation of the protection covers
(1) Find the gearbox breather tube (LB60) (1) attached to the Main Gearbox (MGB) at the 6 o'clock position.
(2) Remove the gearbox breather tube (LB60) (1) from the MGB as follows:
(a) Remove the two bolts (4) and the three bolts (5).
(b) Remove the clamp (3) and the two clamps (6).
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
(c) Disconnect the tube (LB60) (1) from the lubrication drain tube (LD60). (d) Remove the metering plug (2) from the tube (LD60).
(e) Remove the three bolts (9).
(f) Remove the bracket (8).
(g) Remove the tube (LB60) (1) from the MGB.
(h) Remove the seal (7).
(i) Do an inspection of the face seal (7) to find if it is possible to use it again (Ref. AMM TASK 79-23-49-400-802).
(3) Installation of the protection covers
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
