THIS AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANUAL REPAIR LETS YOU REPLACE ONLY THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER'S NUT PLATES. IF THERE IS DAMAGE TO THE HOLE(S) AND AN OVERSIZE NUT PLATE IS NECESSARY, THEN YOU MUST NOT DO THE REPAIR ON-WING. Replacement of the Diffuser-Outer-Case Borescope Plug-Lock-Ring (PRE SB C-72-00-0043A) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) Removal of the protection covers:
(2) Remove all external attachments that are necessary to help in the removal and installation of the borescope plug lock(s).
(3) Remove the loose or damaged borescope AP HPC-7, AP HPC-8 or AP DIFF-1 plug lock ring from the diffuser outer case as follows:

(4) Clean the repair area by SPOP 208 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
(5) Do the visual and dimensional inspections of the borescope plug lock counterbore and boss face as follows:
(a) The counterbore and boss face must have no nicks, burrs, scratches, tool marks, corrosion, wear or damage.
(b) Counterbore diameter for the borescope AP HPC-7 plug lock ring must be between 0.475 in. (12.065 mm) and 0.477 in. (12.116 mm) before the installation

(c) Counterbore diameter for the borescope AP HPC-8 and AP DIFF-1 plug lock ring must be between 0.757 in. (19.228 mm) and 0.759 in. (19.279 mm) before the installation

(6) Install the new borescope AP HPC-8 plug lock ring with the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION to the diffuser case as follows:
P03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine on the threads and shoulder of the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
(b) Insert the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(c) Tighten the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(d) Remove the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
(e) Examine the lock ring.
P03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine on the threads and shoulder of the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(b) Install the borescope AP HPC-7 plug lock ring to the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(c) Insert the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(d) Tighten the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(e) Remove the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(f) Examine the lock ring.
P03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine on the threads and shoulder of the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
(b) Install the borescope AP DIFF-1 plug lock ring to the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
(c) Insert the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(d) Tighten the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(e) Remove the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
(f) Examine the lock ring.
(10) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
(11) Installation of the protection covers:

REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Remove all external attachments that are necessary to help in the removal and installation of the borescope plug lock(s).
(3) Remove the loose or damaged borescope AP HPC-7, AP HPC-8 or AP DIFF-1 plug lock ring from the diffuser outer case as follows:
Replacement of the Diffuser-Outer-Case Borescope Plug-Lock-Ring (PRE SB C-72-00-0043A) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE BORESCOPE PLUG LOCK, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DIFFUSER CASE BOSS PARENT MATERIAL.
(a) Remove the loose or damaged borescope plug lock with the small pry bar. NOTE: The diffuser case boss parent material must not be damaged.
(b) Apply penetrating oil to the necessary areas by SPOP 427 before you remove the lock ring, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-801). NOTE: These penetrating oils are specially for aluminum, magnesium, titanium, steel, nickel, single crystal and cobalt alloy parts.

(4) Clean the repair area by SPOP 208 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).

NOTE: The lock ring is symmetrical. You cannot install it incorrectly.
NOTE: The borescope plug locks must be flush or below the boss surface.
NOTE: The AP HPC-8 plug lock ring can be installed with the BOLT - WORK (0.250 - 28 IN.) and the WASHER DIA 0,250 IN (6,35 MM), if necessary.
(a) Apply (b) Insert the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(c) Tighten the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(d) Remove the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
(e) Examine the lock ring.
NOTE: The lock ring must be flush with or below the boss face.
(7) Install the new borescope AP HPC-7 plug lock ring with the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC to the diffuser case as follows: NOTE: The lock ring installation is done at room temperature using hand tools only. The borescope boss locking insert does not need to be chilled for installation.
NOTE: The lock ring is symmetrical. You cannot install it incorrectly.
NOTE: The borescope plug locks must be flush or below the boss surface.
NOTE: The AP HPC-7 plug lock ring can be installed with the BOLT - WORK (0.250 - 28 IN.) and the WASHER DIA 0,250 IN (6,35 MM), if necessary.
(a) Apply (b) Install the borescope AP HPC-7 plug lock ring to the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(c) Insert the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(d) Tighten the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(e) Remove the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(f) Examine the lock ring.
NOTE: The lock ring must be flush with or below the boss face.
(8) Install the new borescope AP DIFF-1 plug lock ring with the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION to the diffuser case as follows: NOTE: The lock ring installation is done at room temperature using hand tools only. The borescope boss lock insert does not need to be chilled for installation.
NOTE: The lock ring is symmetrical. You cannot install it incorrectly.
NOTE: The borescope plug locks must be flush or below the boss surface.
NOTE: The AP DIFF-1 plug lock ring can be installed with the BOLT - WORK (0.250 - 28 IN.) and the WASHER DIA 0,250 IN (6,35 MM), if necessary.
(a) Apply (b) Install the borescope AP DIFF-1 plug lock ring to the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
(c) Insert the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(d) Tighten the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(e) Remove the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
(f) Examine the lock ring.
NOTE: The lock ring must be flush with or below the boss face.
(9) Install all of the borescope plugs that were removed (Ref. AMM TASK 72-00-00-400-804). (10) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
(11) Installation of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to to prevent damage to the engine. END OF PRE SB C-72-00-0043A (Config-1 Initial Design Configuration)

(1) Removal of the protection covers:
(2) Remove all the external attachments that are necessary to help in the removal and installation of the borescope plug lock(s).
(3) Remove the loose or damaged borescope AP HPC-7, AP HPC-8, AP DIFF-1 or AP DIFF-2 plug lock ring from the diffuser outer case as follows:

(b) Apply penetrating oil to the necessary areas by SPOP 427 before you remove the lock ring, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-801).

(b) Insert the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(c) Tighten the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(d) Remove the PWA115141 PUSHER, INSTALLATION.
(e) Examine the lock ring.

(d) Tighten the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(e) Remove the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(f) Examine the lock ring.

(b) Install the borescope AP DIFF-1 plug lock ring on the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(c) Insert the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(d) Tighten the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(e) Remove the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(f) Examine the lock ring.

(b) Install the borescope AP DIFF-2 plug lock ring on the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(c) Insert the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(d) Tighten the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC with the WRENCH - STANDARD and push the borescope plug lock into the counterbore.
(e) Remove the PWA115422 PUSHER, INSTALLATION - HPC.
(f) Examine the lock ring.
(11) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
(12) Installation of the protection covers:
