Replacement of the Nut Plates and the Rivets of the Fan Exit Liner Segments
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE OIL AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU DRILL THE RIVET HEAD, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RIVET HOLE OR THE PART FROM WHICH YOU REMOVE IT.

THIS AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANUAL REPAIR LETS YOU REPLACE ONLY THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER'S NUT PLATES AND RIVETS. IF THERE IS DAMAGE TO THE RIVET HOLES OR PARTS, THEN YOU MUST NOT DO THE REPAIR ON-WING. YOU MUST REMOVE AND REPAIR THE PART AS PER THE APPLICABLE CLEANING, INSPECTION & REPAIR MANUAL.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

A. Replacement of the Nut Plates and the Rivets of the Fan Exit Liner Segments
(2) Remove the damaged nut plate (1) as follows:
(a) Drill out the rivet (2) heads that attach the nut plate (1) to the liner surface (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-802).
(b) Push out the remaining rivet (2) shanks with the correct size drift. Be careful not to cause delamination around the hole.
(c) Remove the nut plate (1).
(3) Clean the rivet (2) holes and liner surface by SPOP 208 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
(4) Examine the rivet (2) holes and surface below the removed nut plate (1) as follows:
(a) Do a visual inspection for cracks, delamination or surface damage. No cracks, delamination or surface damage is permitted.
(b) Do a dimensional inspection of the rivet (2) holes. See Sheets 2 and 3 of the figure
(5) Installation of the new nut plate(s) (1).

(6) Do an inspection of the rivets (2) as follows:
(a) Do a visual inspection for cracks, gaps, and correct installation.
1 No cracks are permitted in the manufactured head of the rivet (2).
2 No cracks are permitted in the upset head of the rivet (2).
3 No gaps are permitted in the manufactured head or the upset head of the rivet (2).
(b) Do a dimensional inspection of the rivets (2). See Sheets 2 and 3 of the figure
1 The upset head diameter must be 0.118 in. (3.00 mm) - 0.140 in. (3.56 mm).
2 The upset head height must be 0.047 in. (1.19 mm) - 0.094 in. (2.39 mm).
(c) If the rivet(s) (2) are not within the limits, remove and replace the72210003-340 RIVET(S) 2 the with new ones.
(7) Install the repaired liner (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-400-801).
(8) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Remove the damaged liner (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-000-801). See Sheet 1 of the figure (2) Remove the damaged nut plate (1) as follows:
(a) Drill out the rivet (2) heads that attach the nut plate (1) to the liner surface (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-802).
(b) Push out the remaining rivet (2) shanks with the correct size drift. Be careful not to cause delamination around the hole.
(c) Remove the nut plate (1).
(3) Clean the rivet (2) holes and liner surface by SPOP 208 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
(4) Examine the rivet (2) holes and surface below the removed nut plate (1) as follows:
(a) Do a visual inspection for cracks, delamination or surface damage. No cracks, delamination or surface damage is permitted.
(b) Do a dimensional inspection of the rivet (2) holes. See Sheets 2 and 3 of the figure
(5) Installation of the new nut plate(s) (1).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE RIVETING TOOL IS IN THE CORRECT POSITION TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE LAMINATE AROUND THE RIVET HOLE.
(a) Use a GUN - RIVET to install the new (6) Do an inspection of the rivets (2) as follows:
(a) Do a visual inspection for cracks, gaps, and correct installation.
1 No cracks are permitted in the manufactured head of the rivet (2).
2 No cracks are permitted in the upset head of the rivet (2).
3 No gaps are permitted in the manufactured head or the upset head of the rivet (2).
(b) Do a dimensional inspection of the rivets (2). See Sheets 2 and 3 of the figure
1 The upset head diameter must be 0.118 in. (3.00 mm) - 0.140 in. (3.56 mm).
2 The upset head height must be 0.047 in. (1.19 mm) - 0.094 in. (2.39 mm).
(c) If the rivet(s) (2) are not within the limits, remove and replace the
