3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-00-00-210-184-A
A. Visual Inspection of the P3B Line
   (1) Examine the P3B line (Ref. AMM TASK 72-00-00-200-815).
Subtask 72-00-00-280-094-A
B. Drying-out and Cleaning of the P3B Line
   (1) Cut and remove the safetywire.
   (2) Remove the bolt (5) that attaches the loop clamp (4) and the P3B tube (2) to the bracket (6).
   (3) Disconnect the P3B tube (2) from the pressure sub system (1).
   (4) Disconnect the P3B-S tube (11) from the Environmental Control System (ECS) air duct (14) as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (13) that attaches the loop clamp (12) and the P3B-S tube (11) to the bracket (7).
     (b) Cut and remove the safetywires.
     (c) Disconnect the P3B-S tube (11) from the ECS air duct nipple.
     (d) Remove the tube nipple from the ECS air duct (14).
   (5) Check the P3B tube (2) for blockage. A blocked tube is not serviceable:
     (a) Replace the P3B tube (2).
   (6) Blow clean dry air into the P3B tube (2) end to remove any dirt or water accumulation in the P3B line.

C. Removal of the P3B Line Connections
NOTE: Do the steps that follow only if you suspect leakage.
   (1) Remove the P3B tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-70-000-803).
   (2) Cut and remove the safetywire that safeties the tube bundle (3) on the P3B-S tube (11).
   (3) Disconnect the P3B-S tube (11) from the tube bundle (3).
   (4) Remove the bolt (8) and the loop clamp (9) that attach the P3B-S tube (11) to the support bracket (10).
   (5) Remove the bolt (13) and the loop clamp (12) that attach the P3B-S tube (11) to the exciter box and bracket (7).
   (6) Remove the P3B-S tube (11).

D. Inspection of the P3B Line Connections
   (1) Examine the connecting parts as follows:

1.Fitting nuts for:


A.Damaged corners
Any amount, if the correct torque can be obtained
Chase the threads.
B.Safety wire hole deformation and wear
Serviceable, if the metal around the hole is not cracked or torn.

2.Fittings and tube nipple seating surfaces for:


A.Circumferential scratches
Any amount not detectable with a 0.04 in. (1.02 mm) radius ball SCRIBE.

B.Axial scratches
Not serviceable
Replace the tube or the part.
C.Nicks, pits
Not serviceable
Replace the tube or the part.
   (2) If necessary, clean the parts with stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
   (3) If necessary, remove the dirt from the pressure sub system (1) nipple with a WIRE - PLASTIC. Take care to not introduce dirt into the pressure sub system (1).
   (4) Check the tube bundle weep hole for clogging or dirt accumulation.
   (5) If necessary, clean the tube bundle weep hole with stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or a WIRE - PLASTIC and ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) .

E. Installation of the P3B Line
CAUTION: DURING INSTALLATION, MAKE SURE THAT THE P3B LINE DOES NOT TOUCH THE LOWER STARTER DUCT OR OTHER PARTS IN THIS AREA. IF IT DOES, CHAFING OF THE P3B CAN OCCUR.
   (1) Connect the coupling nut on the P3B-S tube (11) to the ECS air duct (14).
   (2) TORQUE the coupling nut that connects the sense line P3B-S tube (11) to the ECS air duct (14) to between 3.48 and 2.96 m.daN (26 and 22 lbf.ft ) T.
   (3) Safety the nipple of the ECS air duct (14) on the coupling nut of P3B-S tube (11) with safetywire (Material No.
CP8001) or safetywire (Material No.CP8002) .
   (4) Connect the P3B-S tube (11) on the tube bundle (3).
   (5) Lubricate the threads of the bolt (8) and the bolt (13) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (6) Install the bolt (8) that attaches the loop clamp (9) and the P3B-S tube (11) to support bracket (10) hand-tight.
   (7) Install the bolt (13) that attaches the loop clamp (12) and the P3B-S tube (11) to the exciter box and the bracket (7) hand-tight.
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (8) TRIPLE TORQUE the coupling nut of the P3B-S tube (11) as follows:
     (a) TORQUE the coupling nut of the P3B-S tube (11) to between 3.39 and 3.05 m.daN (25 and 22 lbf.ft ) T.
     (b) Loosen the coupling nut of the P3B-S tube (11) until it turns freely.
     (c) TORQUE the coupling nut of the P3B-S tube (11) to between 3.39 and 3.05 m.daN (25 and 22 lbf.ft )
T.
     (d) TORQUE the coupling nut of the P3B-S tube (11) to between 3.39 and 3.05 m.daN (25 and 22 lbf.ft )
T.
   (9) Safety the nipple of the tube bundle (3) and the coupling nut of the P3B-S tube (11) with safetywire (Material No.
CP8001) or safetywire (Material No.CP8002) .
   (10) TORQUE the clamp bolt (13) and the bolt (8) to between 0.79 and 0.68 m.daN (70 and 60 lbf.in ) T.
   (11) Install the P3B tube (2) (
Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-70-400-803).

   (3) If P3B tube was disconnected or replaced, do an idle test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-803).
