3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-00-00-941-230-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-00-00-210-178-A
A. Visual Inspection of the PS3 Line
   (1) Examine the PS3 line (Ref. AMM TASK 72-00-00-200-815).
Subtask 72-00-00-280-088-A
B. Dry out and Cleaning of the PS3 Line
   (1) Cut and remove the safetywire.
   (2) Disconnect the PS3 tube (2) from the pressure sub system (1).
   (3) Disconnect the PS3 tube (2) from the combustion case (9) as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (10) that attach the loop clamp (6) and the PS3 tube (4) to the bracket (7).
     (b) Cut and remove the safetywires.
     (c) Disconnect the PS3 tube (4) from the tube nipple (8).
     (d) Remove the tube nipple (8) from the combustion case (9).
   (4) Check the PS3 tube (2) for blockage. Blocked tube is not serviceable:
     (a) Replace the PS3 tube (2).
   (5) Blow clean dry air into the PS3 tube (2) end to remove any dirt or water accumulation in the PS3 line.

C. Removal of the PS3 Line Connections
NOTE: Do the step that follow only if you suspect a leak.
   (1) Remove the PS3 line connection (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-75-000-801).

D. Inspection of the PS3 Line Connections
   (1) Examine the connecting parts as follows:

1.Fitting nuts for:


A.Damaged corners
Any amount, if correct torque can be obtained
Chase the threads.
B.Safetywire hole deformation and wear
Serviceable, if the metal around hole is not cracked or torn.
2.Fittings and tube nipple seating surfaces for:


A.Circumferential scratches
Any amount not detectable with a 0.04 in. (1.02 mm) radius ball SCRIBE.

B.Axial scratches
Not serviceable
Replace the tube or the part.
C.Nicks, pits
Not serviceable
Replace the tube or the part.
   (2) If necessary, clean the parts with: stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
   (3) If necessary, remove the dirt from the pressure sub system (1) nipple with a WIRE - PLASTIC. Take care to not introduce dirt into the pressure sub system (1).
   (4) Check the tube bundle weep hole for clogging or dirt accumulation.
   (5) If necessary, clean the tube bundle weep hole with: stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or WIRE - PLASTIC and a ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) .

E. Installation of the PS3 Lines
CAUTION: DURING INSTALLATION, MAKE SURE THAT THE PS3 LINE DOES NOT TOUCH THE LOWER STARTER DUCT OR OTHER PARTS IN THIS AREA. IF IT DOES, CHAFING OF THE PS3 HOSE CAN OCCUR.
   (1) Install the tube nipple (8) on the combustion case (9).
   (2) TORQUE the tube nipple (8) to between 3.48 and 2.96 m.daN (26 and 22 lbf.ft ) T.
   (3) Safety with safetywire (Material No.CP8001) or safetywire (Material No.CP8002) .
   (4) Connect the PS3 tube (4) on the tube nipple (8).
   (5) TORQUE the PS3 tube (4) B-nut to between 3.48 and 2.96 m.daN (26 and 22 lbf.ft ) T.
   (6) Safety with safetywire (Material No.CP8001) or safetywire (Material No.CP8002) .
   (7) Lubricate the threads of the bolt (10) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (8) Install the bolt (10) that attaches the loop clamp (6) and the PS3 tube (4) on the bracket (7) hand tight.
   (9) TORQUE the bolt (10) to between 0.79 and 0.68 m.daN (70 and 60 lbf.in ) T.
   (10) Put the PS3 tube (5) in position on the engine.
   (11) Connect the PS3 tube (5) to the PS3 tube (4).
   (12) TORQUE the PS3 tube (4) B-nut to between 3.48 and 2.96 m.daN (26 and 22 lbf.ft ) T.
   (13) Safety with safetywire (Material No.CP8001) or safetywire (Material No.CP8002) .
   (14) Connect the PS3 tube (5) to the tube bundle (3).
   (15) TORQUE the PS3 tube (5) B-nut to between 3.48 and 2.96 m.daN (26 and 22 lbf.ft ) T.
   (16) Safety with safetywire (Material No.CP8001) or safetywire (Material No.CP8002) .
   (17) Install the PS3 line (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-75-400-801).
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
