1. Reason for the Job
A. This procedure gives the instructions to install a set of six electrical harnesses on the thrust reverser.
B. The set of harnesses connect to components of the Hydraulic Thrust Reverser Actuation System (HTRAS). The harnesses connect to the electrical Tertiary Lock System (TLS), the Primary Locking System (PLS) on the Left Hand (LH) Self-Locking Feedback Actuator (SLFA), the Directional Control Unit (DCU) and the Pylon Junction Box (PJB).
C. The set includes the six harnesses that follow:
  • DCU Channel A Harness (4767EG)
  • DCU Channel B Harness (4768EG)
  • TLS Power Harness (PJB to LH Break) (4773EG)
  • TLS Power Harness (LH Break to TLS) (4774EG)
  • Pylon PLS/TLS Channel A and B Harness (LH Break to LH SLFA) (4769EG)
  • Pylon PLS/TLS Channel A and B Harness (LH Break to RH Break) (4770EG).

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-51-43-941-079-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

   (1) Make sure that the left thrust reverser cowl-door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 71-51-43-420-081-A
A. Installation of the Thrust Reverser Actuation System Electrical Harnesses
NOTE: Only if necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to connect the electrical connectors.
   (1) Remove all the CAP - PROTECTION from connectors.
   (2) Lubricate the threads of the screws (47) and (48), bolts (4), (17), (20), (37), (40), (53), (57), (58), (66), (68), and (76) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
   (3) At a workbench, assemble each of the six harnesses to make the harness set as follows:
     (a) Install the P-clamps (41) and (54), three bar clamps (18), (19) and (38) and the six harness clamps (51), (56), (59), (67), (69) and (75) on the set of harnesses (3).
     (b) Use the record made during the removal procedure to set the clamps in the correct location and position.
   (4) Put the harness (3) (with the P-clamp, bar clamps, and the harness clamps attached) in position on the left side thrust reverser.
   (5) Install the harness (3) in the spring clips as follows:
     (a) Put the harness (3) in the spring clips (21) and (22).
     (b) Put the harness (3) in the spring clips on the 15 support brackets (1).
     (c) Put the harness (3) in the five spring clips on the support bracket (12).
   (6) Install the harness bracket (5) as follows:
     (a) Attach the harness bracket (5) in the support bracket (6) with the four bolts (4).
     (b) TORQUE the bolts (4) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in ) T.
   (7) Connect the electrical connectors (7), (8) and (11) as follows (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
     (a) Connect the electrical connector (7) to the prox sensor connection (9).
     (b) Connect the electrical connector (8) to the prox sensor connection (2).
     (c) Connect the electrical connector (11) to the TLS connection (10).
   (8) Install the bar clamps (18) and (19) as follows:
     (a) Install the bolt (17) that attaches the bar clamp (18) to the support bracket (16).
     (b) Install the bolt (20) that attaches the bar clamp (19) to the latch beam (15).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (17) and (20) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in ) T.
   (9) Connect the electrical connectors (23), (25) and (29) on the actuator (27) as follows (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
     (a) Connect the electrical connector (23) to the prox sensor (28).
     (b) Connect the electrical connector (29) to the Linear Variable Differential Transducer (LVDT) (26).
     (c) Connect the electrical connector (23) to the prox sensor (28).
   (10) Install the bar clamp (38) as follows:
     (a) Install the bolt (37) that attaches the bar clamp (38) to the support bracket (31).
     (b) TORQUE the bolt (37) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in ) T.
   (11) Connect the electrical connectors (34) and (35) Directional Control Unit (DCU) (36) as follows (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
     (a) Connect the electrical connector (34) to the DCU connection (33).
     (b) Connect the electrical connector (35) to the DCU connection (32).
   (12) Install the electrical connectors (43) and (46) as follows:
     (a) Install the four screws (48) and nuts (44) that attach the electrical connector (43) to the support bracket (42).
     (b) Install the four screws (47) and nuts (45) that attach the electrical connector (46) to the support bracket (42).
     (c) TORQUE the nuts (44) and (45) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in ) T.
   (13) Connect the electrical connectors (49) and (52) as follows (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
     (a) Connect the electrical connector (52) to the electrical connector (43).
     (b) Connect the electrical connector (49) to the electrical connector (46).
   (14) Install the P-clamps (41) and (54) as follows:
     (a) Install the bolt (40) that attaches the P-clamp (41) to the support bracket (42).
     (b) Install the bolt (53) that attaches the P-clamp (54) to the support bracket (42).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (40) and (53) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in ) T.
   (15) Install the harness clamps (56) and (59) as follows:
     (a) Install the two bolts (58) that attaches the harness clamp (59) to the support bracket (60).
     (b) Install the two bolts (57) that attaches the harness clamp (56) to the support bracket (55).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (57) and (58) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in )
T.
   (16) Adjust the tension in the harness (3) along the length of the harness routing on the left side of the engine.
     (a) Make sure the harness does not touch adjacent components.
   (17) Carefully push the upper ends of the harnesses through the opening below the pylon to the right side of the engine.
   (18) Move the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE to the right side of the engine.
   (19) Carefully pull the upper ends of the harnesses through the opening below the pylon to the right side of the engine.
   (20) Connect the electrical connectors (72), (73), (77) and (79) on the right side of the engine as follows (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
     (a) Connect the electrical connector (72) to the connection on the interface bracket (71).
     (b) Connect the electrical connector (73) to the connection on the interface bracket (71).
     (c) Connect the electrical connector (77) to the connection on the interface bracket (78).
     (d) Connect the electrical connector (79) to the connection on the interface bracket (78).
   (21) Install the harness clamps (67) and (69) as follows:
     (a) Install the two bolts (66) that attach the harness clamp (67) to the pylon junction box (65).
     (b) Install the two bolts (68) that attach the harness clamp (69) to the pylon junction box (65).
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (66) and (68) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in ) T.
   (22) Install the harness clamp (75) as follows:
     (a) Put the harness clamp (75) in position on the support bracket (74) and attach it with the bolt (76).
     (b) TORQUE the bolt (76) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in )

   (23) Connect the electrical connector (70) to the connection on the pylon junction box (65) (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
5. Close-up
