C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
Subtask 71-22-41-010-090-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Remove the left or right thrust reverser aft hinge access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-06-000-801).
(2) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Remove the left or right thrust reverser aft hinge access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-06-000-801).
(2) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

A. Detailed Inspection of the Aft Engine Mount and Secondary Load-Path Clearance, Fail-Safe Pin
(2) Get access to the aft engine mount in the 12 o'clock area (engine junction area).
(3) Use theP05-005 wipe, lint-free to remove all dirt or unwanted material from the aft engine mount.
(4) Do the detailed inspection of the aft mount link (3), aft mount shackle (5), aft beam assy (1) and aft mount bolts (2) for dents, scratches, nicks and corrosion.
(a) If you find dents, scratches, nicks, corrosion or cracks,CMM 712002 inspection/check procedure.
(5) Do the detailed inspection of the secondary load path clearance.
(a) Make sure that the bolt assembly (4) turns freely.
1 If the bolt assembly (4) does not turn freely, contact Airbus for instructions.
2 If the bolt assembly (4) turns freely, examine the fail-safe pin (11).
b Remove the nut (8), the two washers (10), the screw (9) and the fail safe-pin (11).
c Do the visual inspection of the fail-safe pin (11):
f Make sure that the two washers (10) are fully on the shoulders of the bushes.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
FOR EACH WASHER, MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE CORRECT PART NUMBER AT THE CORRECT LOCATION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE PIN CAN MOVE OUT FROM ITS POSITION.
(1) Use the MIRROR - INSPECTION and the FLASHLIGHT - HIGHPOWER to do this inspection.(2) Get access to the aft engine mount in the 12 o'clock area (engine junction area).

2 If the bolt assembly (4) turns freely, examine the fail-safe pin (11).

USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
a Remove and discard the cotter pin (7).b Remove the nut (8), the two washers (10), the screw (9) and the fail safe-pin (11).
c Do the visual inspection of the fail-safe pin (11):
- If you find damage, contact Airbus for instructions.
- Install the screw (9) from the aft direction to the forward direction.
- TORQUE the nut (8) to between 11.5 and 9.63 m.daN (84.81 and 71.02 lbf.ft )

e Install the new AIPC 71-22-86-01-010 PIN (7).f Make sure that the two washers (10) are fully on the shoulders of the bushes.
