Installation of the Right Forward Mount Thrust Link
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) was in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) was in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-21-11-010-099-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 71-21-11-010-100-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that the thrust reversers are deactivated for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Get Access

A. Preparation for the Installation
(1) Make sure that the 98D71203018000 THRUST LINK R/I FOR CFM is installed.
(a) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
Subtask 71-21-11-420-070-A (1) Make sure that the 98D71203018000 THRUST LINK R/I FOR CFM is installed.
(a) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
B. Installation of the Right Forward Mount Thrust Link
(b) Put the thrust link (7) in position on the forward mount assembly (8) and the engine case (9).
(c) To install the thrust link (7), move its aft and forward ends in sequence:
1 Place the forward end of the link and move slightly outward.
2 Place the aft end of the link and move slightly inward.
3 Repeat the steps 4.B.(1)(c)1_ and 4.B.(1)(c)2_ until the thrust link end axis are aligned with the two clevis.
(2) Clean the pin-holes of the clevis (7) and the pins (3) with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
(3) Install the pins (3) on the assembly of the forward mount assembly (8) and the thrust link (7), and on the assembly of the engine case (9) and the thrust link (7).
(5) Install the washers (4) and the nuts (5) on the two sides of the assemblies
(6) Make sure that the washers (2) and (4) cover completely the shoulder of the bushes and that no pin (3) translation is possible.
(7) TORQUE the two nuts (5) to between 2.23 and 1.79 m.daN (16.45 and 13.20 lbf.ft )
.
(8) Install the new AIPC 71-21-86-50-010 COTTER PIN (6) on the nuts (5).
(9) Remove Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) below the thrust link clevis.
(10) Remove the 98D71203018000 THRUST LINK R/I FOR CFM. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(11) Connect the connectors of the harnesses HJ8A (13) and HJ8B (12) on the connector plate.
(12) Install the harnesses (11), HJ8A (13) and (14), and HJ8B (12) in the clamps on the bracket (10).
(13) Install the Variable Bleed Valve (VBV) ducts 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-400-801).
(14) Install the strut 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-03-400-801).
5. Close-upCAUTION:
HOLD THE THRUST LINK TO PREVENT HARD CONTACT WITH THE ENGINE DURING THE STEPS THAT FOLLOW. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE (SCRATCHES) TO THE ENGINE CASE.
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE GREASE OR OIL ON ANY PARTS OF THESE ASSEMBLIES. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(1) Installation of the thrust link (7) CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE THRUST LINKS IN THE CORRECT POSITION. IF YOU NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT, FOR EACH WASHER, YOU INSTALL THE CORRECT PART NUMBER AT THE CORRECT LOCATION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE PIN CAN BE MOVED OUT FROM ITS POSITION.
(a) Safely support the thrust link (7) and keep it away from other engine components. (b) Put the thrust link (7) in position on the forward mount assembly (8) and the engine case (9).
(c) To install the thrust link (7), move its aft and forward ends in sequence:
1 Place the forward end of the link and move slightly outward.
2 Place the aft end of the link and move slightly inward.
3 Repeat the steps 4.B.(1)(c)1_ and 4.B.(1)(c)2_ until the thrust link end axis are aligned with the two clevis.
(2) Clean the pin-holes of the clevis (7) and the pins (3) with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
(3) Install the pins (3) on the assembly of the forward mount assembly (8) and the thrust link (7), and on the assembly of the engine case (9) and the thrust link (7).
NOTE: You can act on the 98D71203018000 THRUST LINK R/I FOR CFM to help with the installation of the pins (3).
(4) Install the washers (2) and the bolt (1) on the two sides of the assemblies. (5) Install the washers (4) and the nuts (5) on the two sides of the assemblies
(6) Make sure that the washers (2) and (4) cover completely the shoulder of the bushes and that no pin (3) translation is possible.
(7) TORQUE the two nuts (5) to between 2.23 and 1.79 m.daN (16.45 and 13.20 lbf.ft )
. (8) Install the new AIPC 71-21-86-50-010 COTTER PIN (6) on the nuts (5).
(9) Remove Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) below the thrust link clevis.
(10) Remove the 98D71203018000 THRUST LINK R/I FOR CFM. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(11) Connect the connectors of the harnesses HJ8A (13) and HJ8B (12) on the connector plate.
(12) Install the harnesses (11), HJ8A (13) and (14), and HJ8B (12) in the clamps on the bracket (10).
(13) Install the Variable Bleed Valve (VBV) ducts 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-400-801).
