WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-24-03-420-050-A
A. Installation of Strut 1 (1)
   (1) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (2) Installation of the Strut 1 outer fitting (9):
     (a) Apply the CA1010 Mastinox chromate free jointing compound (Material No.CP2773) on the threads of the bolts (36) and the two bolts (37).
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (34) with the graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
     (c) Install the strut 1 outer fitting (9) on the engine.
     (d) Install the two bolts (37) and the two adjusting fitting shims (38) on the strut 1 outer fitting (9) and tighten them by hand.
     (e) TORQUE the two bolts (37) to between 101.85 and 92.15 lbf.in (1.15 and 1.04 m.daN ) T.
     (f) Install the two bolts (36) on the engine and tighten them by hand.
     (g) TORQUE the two bolts (36) to between 101.85 and 92.15 lbf.in (1.15 and 1.04 m.daN )
T.
     (h) Install the two bolts (34) and the two flat washers (35) on the strut 1 fairing support (7).
     (i) TORQUE the two bolts (34) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN )
T.
   (3) Installation of the strut 1 pad (right) (3) and the strut 1 pad (left) (12):
     (a) Install the strut 1 pad (right) (3) and the strut 1 pad (left) (12) in the correct position on the engine.
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (33) with the graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (c) Install the bolt (33) and the nut (32) to attach the strut 1 pad (right) (3) and the strut 1 pad (left) (12) and tighten them with your hand.
     (d) TORQUE the nut (32) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN ) T.
   (4) Installation of the strut 1 removable support (5):
     (a) Install the strut 1 removable support (5) in the correct position.
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the two nuts (30) with the graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (c) Install the two bolts (31) and the two nuts (30) to attach the strut 1 removable support (5) to the strut 1 fairing support (7) and tighten them with your hand.
     (d) TORQUE the two nuts (30) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN ) T.
   (5) Installation of the strut 1 pad (left) (12):
     (a) Install the intrados strut 1 seal (left) (27) in the correct position on the strut 1 pad (left) (12).
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the four screws (25), the two bolts (26) and the five screws (28) with the graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (c) Install the five screws (28) and the five nuts (29) to attach the strut 1 seal (left) (27) to the strut 1 pad (left) (12) and tighten them by hand.
     (d) TORQUE the five nuts (29) to between 55.65 and 50.35 lbf.in (0.63 and 0.57 m.daN ) T.
     (e) Install the two bolts (26) to attach the strut 1 pad (left) (12) to the fan frame hub (19) and tighten them by hand.
     (f) TORQUE the two bolts (26) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN )
T.
     (g) Install the four screws (25) to attach the strut 1 pad (left) (12) to the junction - shroud fitting (left) (24) and tighten them by hand.
     (h) TORQUE the four screws (25) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN )
T.
   (6) Installation of the strut 1 pad (right) (3):
     (a) Install the extrados strut 1 seal (right) (21) in the correct position on the strut 1 pad (right) (3).
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the four screws (18), the two bolts (20) and the five screws (22) with the graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (c) Install the five screws (22) and the five nuts (23) to attach the strut 1 seal (right) (21) to the strut 1 pad (right) (3) and tighten them by hand.
     (d) TORQUE the five nuts (23) to between 55.65 and 50.35 lbf.in (0.63 and 0.57 m.daN ) T.
     (e) Install the two bolts (20) to attach the strut 1 pad (right) (3) to the fan frame hub (19) and tighten them by hand.
     (f) TORQUE the two bolts (20) to between 120.75 and 109.25 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.23 m.daN )
T.
     (g) Install the four screws (18) to attach the strut 1 pad (right) (3) to the junction - shroud fitting (right) (17) and tighten them by hand.
     (h) TORQUE the four screws (18) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN )
T.
   (7) Installation of the strut 1 fairing (left) (11):
     (a) Install the strut 1 fairing (left) (11) in the correct position.
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the four screws (13), the screw (14), the three screws (15) and the three screws (16) with the graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (c) Install the three screws (16) to attach the strut 1 fairing (left) (11) to the strut 1 outer fitting (9) and tighten them by hand.
     (d) TORQUE the three screws (16) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN ) T.
     (e) Install the three screws (15) to attach the strut 1 fairing (left) (11) to the strut 1 outer fitting (7) and tighten them by hand.
     (f) TORQUE the three screws (15) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN )
T.
     (g) Install the screw (14) to attach the strut 1 fairing (left) (11) to the strut 1 removable support (5) and tighten it by hand.
     (h) TORQUE the screw (14) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN )
T.
     (i) Install the four screws (13) to attach the strut 1 fairing (left) (11) to the strut 1 pad (left) (12) and tighten them by hand.
     (j) TORQUE the four screws (13) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN )
T.
   (8) Installation of the strut 1 fairing (right) (2):
     (a) Install the strut 1 fairing (right) (2) in the correct position.
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the four screws (4), the screw (6), the three screws (8) and the three screws (10) with the graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (c) Install the three screws (10) to attach the strut 1 fairing (right) (2) to the strut 1 outer fitting (9) and tighten them with your hand.
     (d) TORQUE the three screws (10) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN ) T.
     (e) Install the three screws (8) to attach the strut 1 fairing (right) (2) to the strut 1 fairing support (7) and tighten them by hand.
     (f) TORQUE the three screws (8) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN )

     (g) Install the screw (6) to attach the strut 1 fairing (right) (2) to the strut 1 removable support (5) and tighten it by hand.
     (h) TORQUE the screw (6) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN )
T.
     (i) Install the four screws (4) to attach the strut 1 fairing (right) (2) to the strut 1 pad (right) (3) and tighten them by hand.
     (j) TORQUE the four screws (4) to between 84 and 76 lbf.in (0.95 and 0.86 m.daN )
