A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the flap tracks 3 and 4, zones 532 (632) and 533 (633) and below the fuel tank, zone 540 (640).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):

for the left wing, remove 540FB 540GB 540NB 540PB
for the right wing, remove 640FB 640GB 640NB 640PB.

for the right wing, remove 640FB 640GB 640NB 640PB.

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-21-00-110-067-A

A. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:

the upper surface of the bottom skin in the area of the flap track 3 and 4 forward and aft pickup fittings
the attachment to the rear spar.

Subtask 57-21-00-210-072-A

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing Bottom Skin Upper Surface in Area of Flap Track 3 and 4 Forward and Aft Pickup Fittings, including Attachment to Rear Spar.
(1) Examine the upper surface of the bottom skin in the area of the flap track 3 and 4 forward and aft pickup fittings. Also examine the attachment to the rear spar.
Make sure that:

there is no corrosion or damage
there are no scratches or scores
there are no loose or damaged fasteners
the surface protection is in the correct condition.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2) Install the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002):

for the left wing, install 540FB 540GB 540NB 540PB
for the right wing, install 640FB 640GB 640NB 640PB.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2) Install the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-400-001):

for the left wing, install 540FB 540GB 540NB 540PB
for the right wing, install 640FB 640GB 640NB 640PB.

(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
