A. Safety Precautions

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the vent surge tank, zones 550 (650) and 560 (660).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-47-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-45-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):

for the left wing, 550AB 550BB 550CB 550DB 560AB
for the right wing, 650AB 650BB 650CB 650DB 660AB.

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-21-00-110-058-A

A. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the aft face of the front spar (RIB22 thru RIB27).

Subtask 57-21-00-210-063-A

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, Front Spar Aft Face, between RIB22 and RIB27
(1) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF to light the applicable inspection area and if necessary a MIRROR - INSPECTION, FLEXIBLE.
(2) Examine the aft face of the front spar (ribs 22 thru 27). Make sure that:

there is no corrosion
there are no scratches, scores or damage
there are no loose or damaged fasteners
the protective finish is in the correct condition.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2) Install the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-47-400-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-45-400-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002):

for the left wing, 550AB 550BB 550CB 550DB 560AB
for the right wing, 650AB 650BB 650CB 650DB 660AB.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Refuel (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), defuel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or transfer fuel (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001) as necessary.

C. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
