B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Fully extend the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (3) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
   (4) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the spoiler servo control.
   (5) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the slats or flaps.

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the spar aft-face area.

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, Rear-Spar Aft Face, from RIB 8 to RIB 11
   (1) Examine the applicable inspection area. Make sure that:
  • there is no corrosion
  • there are no cracks or damage
  • there are no fuel or hydraulic leaks
  • there is no distortion, pulled or torn fasteners
  • the ducting, piping and wiring installations are attached correctly
  • the paint finish is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

C. Application of Temporary Protection System (TPS)
   (1) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001):
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. If, after the check, you think that the TPS layer is in the correct condition, you can apply a new layer as a spray on the remaining layer.
   (2) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001) and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) :
   (3) If, before the inspection, there was:
  • Removal of the TPS layer
  • Or cleaning of the inspection area with high pressure water, steam, Solvents and/or cleaning agents apply a full new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) on the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

   (2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002).
   (3) Retract the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (4) Retract the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (5) On the servocontrol, make sure that the pointer on the hex. head is aligned with the letter 'O' on the housing.

   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
