B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

(4) Make sure that the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-11-010-801):

(4) Make sure that the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-11-010-801):
(a) For the left pylon: 473AL 473AR
(b) For the right pylon: 483AL 483AR.
C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). Subtask 54-56-00-420-059-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Aft Pylon Fairing (APF)
(a) Put the tension bar (14) in position on the bootstrap fittings (13) and install the quick locking pins (15).
(b) Put the APF (2) in position with the 98D54403004000 R/I PYLON APF (12).
(c) Put the strap (16) through the strainer (20), before you install the hooks (17).
(d) Install the hooks (17) on the shackles (18).
(e) Put the plier (19) on the APF leading edge and adjust the strap (16) in the correct direction.
(f) Put the protection (21) around the strainer (20).
(g) Pull the strap (16) to compress the exhaust nozzle seals.
(2) When you install the APF (2) again, make sure that the pylon holes and the APF holes are correctly aligned. If it is not correctly aligned:
(a) Loosen the screws (3) of the primary structure.
(b) Adjust the primary structure strip (4) to align the holes.
(c) Tighten the screws (3).
(3) Install the screws (5).
(4) TORQUE the screws (5) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

(5) Install the washers (7) and the bolts (6).
(6) Install the washers (9) and (10), the screws (11) and the nuts (8).
(7) TORQUE the bolts (6) to between 1.61 and 1.31 m.daN (142.48 and 115.93 lbf.in )
.
(8) TORQUE the nuts (8) to between 1.38 and 1.06 m.daN (122.12 and 93.81 lbf.in )
.
(9) Install the screws (1) and tighten them.
(10) Remove the 98D54403004000 R/I PYLON APF (12) from the APF (2).
(11) Remove the 98D54403010000 RI APF INSTALL SUPPORT from the APF (2). To do this:
(a) Adjust the strainer (20) to release the tension in the strap (16).
(b) Remove the plier (19) from the APF leading edge and release the strap (16).
(c) Remove the protection (21) from the strainer (20).
(d) Remove the hooks (17) from the shackles (18).
(e) Remove the strap (16) through the strainer (20).
(f) Remove the quick locking pins (15) and tension bar (14) from the bootstrap fittings (13).
Subtask 54-56-00-410-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Install the 98D54403010000 RI APF INSTALL SUPPORT on the APF (2). To do this: (a) Put the tension bar (14) in position on the bootstrap fittings (13) and install the quick locking pins (15).
(b) Put the APF (2) in position with the 98D54403004000 R/I PYLON APF (12).
(c) Put the strap (16) through the strainer (20), before you install the hooks (17).
(d) Install the hooks (17) on the shackles (18).
(e) Put the plier (19) on the APF leading edge and adjust the strap (16) in the correct direction.
(f) Put the protection (21) around the strainer (20).
(g) Pull the strap (16) to compress the exhaust nozzle seals.
(2) When you install the APF (2) again, make sure that the pylon holes and the APF holes are correctly aligned. If it is not correctly aligned:

(7) TORQUE the bolts (6) to between 1.61 and 1.31 m.daN (142.48 and 115.93 lbf.in )
. (8) TORQUE the nuts (8) to between 1.38 and 1.06 m.daN (122.12 and 93.81 lbf.in )
. (9) Install the screws (1) and tighten them.
(10) Remove the 98D54403004000 R/I PYLON APF (12) from the APF (2).
(11) Remove the 98D54403010000 RI APF INSTALL SUPPORT from the APF (2). To do this:
(a) Adjust the strainer (20) to release the tension in the strap (16).
(b) Remove the plier (19) from the APF leading edge and release the strap (16).
(c) Remove the protection (21) from the strainer (20).
(d) Remove the hooks (17) from the shackles (18).
(e) Remove the strap (16) through the strainer (20).
(f) Remove the quick locking pins (15) and tension bar (14) from the bootstrap fittings (13).
B. Installation of the Components
(1) Install the closing sheet metal (Ref. AMM TASK 54-54-00-400-804).
(2) Close the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) door (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-11-410-801):
(a) For the left pylon: 473AL 473AR
(b) For the right pylon: 483AL 483AR.
Subtask 54-56-00-820-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the closing sheet metal (Ref. AMM TASK 54-54-00-400-804).
(2) Close the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) door (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-11-410-801):
(a) For the left pylon: 473AL 473AR
(b) For the right pylon: 483AL 483AR.
C. Check of the Clearances
(1) Make sure that the clearance between the APF (1) and the RMF door (4), J1 is 4.2 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.1654 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
(2) Make sure that the clearance between the APF (1) and the pylon (3), J2 is 3 +2.1 mm or -2.1 mm (0.1181 +0.0827 in. or -0.0827 in.).
(3) Make sure that the clearance between the APF (1) and the closing sheet metal (2), J3 is 2 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.0787 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
(4) Make sure that the out-of-flush dimension between the APF (1) and the RMF door (4), A1 is 0 +0.7 mm or -0.5 mm (0.0000 +0.0276 in. or -0.0197 in.).
(5) Make sure that the out-of-flush dimension between the APF (1) and the pylon (3), A2 is 0 +0.7 mm or -0.5 mm (0.0000 +0.0276 in. or -0.0197 in.).
(6) Make sure that the out-of-flush dimension between the APF (1) and the closing sheet metal (2), A3 is 0 +0.6 mm or -0.6 mm (0.0000 +0.0236 in. or -0.0236 in.).
(7) If the values of the peripheral clearances and the out-of-flush dimensions do not agree with the permitted values given above, contact Airbus.
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the clearance between the APF (1) and the RMF door (4), J1 is 4.2 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.1654 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
(2) Make sure that the clearance between the APF (1) and the pylon (3), J2 is 3 +2.1 mm or -2.1 mm (0.1181 +0.0827 in. or -0.0827 in.).
(3) Make sure that the clearance between the APF (1) and the closing sheet metal (2), J3 is 2 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.0787 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
(4) Make sure that the out-of-flush dimension between the APF (1) and the RMF door (4), A1 is 0 +0.7 mm or -0.5 mm (0.0000 +0.0276 in. or -0.0197 in.).
(5) Make sure that the out-of-flush dimension between the APF (1) and the pylon (3), A2 is 0 +0.7 mm or -0.5 mm (0.0000 +0.0276 in. or -0.0197 in.).
(6) Make sure that the out-of-flush dimension between the APF (1) and the closing sheet metal (2), A3 is 0 +0.6 mm or -0.6 mm (0.0000 +0.0236 in. or -0.0236 in.).
(7) If the values of the peripheral clearances and the out-of-flush dimensions do not agree with the permitted values given above, contact Airbus.
