A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, at zone 470
     (b) For the right pylon, at zone 480.

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

C. Preparation for the Installation
   (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) Make sure that the sealant is removed from the inner side of the closing sheet metal (5) and around the drain pipes.
   (3) If the inner side of the closing sheet metal (5) and the area around the drain pipes are dirty, clean them with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
4. Procedure

A. Sealant Application

F Closing Sheet Metal ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Make sure that the sealant is in the correct condition on the pylon structure.
   (2) If the sealant is not in the correct condition:
     (a) Remove the sealant from the pylon structure with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
     (b) Clean the pylon structure with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (c) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet 120 degre Celsius (Material No.06ABB2) on the pylon structure.
   (3) Make sure that clearance A between the fastener hole of the pylon structure and the sealant is 2 -1 mm or +1 mm (0.08 -0.04 in. or +0.04 in.).
   (4) Make sure that width B of the sealant is 10 +0 mm or +0.5 mm (0.39 +0 in. or +0.02 in.).
   (5) Make sure that thickness C of the sealant is 1 +0 mm or +0.2 mm (0.04 +0 in. or +0.01 in.).
   (6) Make sure that thickness D of the sealant is 1 mm (0.04 in.).
   (7) Apply two layers of Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) on the inner side of the closing sheet metal (5).

   (1) Make sure that the sealant is in the correct condition on the pylon structure.
   (2) If the sealant is not in the correct condition:
     (a) Remove the sealant from the pylon structure with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
     (b) Clean the pylon structure with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (c) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet 120 degre Celsius (Material No.06ABB2) on the pylon structure.
   (3) Make sure that clearance A between the fastener hole of the pylon structure and the sealant is 2 -1 mm or +1 mm (0.08 -0.04 in. or +0.04 in.).
   (4) Make sure that width B of the sealant is 10 +0 mm or +0.5 mm (0.39 +0 in. or +0.02 in.).
   (5) Make sure that thickness C of the sealant is 1 +0 mm or +0.2 mm (0.04 +0 in. or +0.01 in.).
   (6) Make sure that thickness D of the sealant is 1 +0 mm or +0.2 mm (0.04 +0 in. or +0.01 in.).
   (7) Apply two layers of Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) on the inner side of the closing sheet metal (5).

B. Installation of the Closing Sheet Metal

   (1) Put the closing sheet metal (5) in position and hold it.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (2) Install the screws (1), (2), (3) and (4).
   (3) Tighten the screws (1), (2), (3) and (4).
   (4) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet 120 degre Celsius (Material No.06ABB2) on the area around the drain pipes where they touch the closing sheet metal (5).

C. Check of the Clearances

   (1) Make sure that peripheral clearance J1 between the Aft Pylon Fairing (APF) (2) and the closing sheet metal (1) is 2 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.0787 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
   (2) Make sure that peripheral clearances J2 and J3 between the Rear Pylon Fairing (RPF) (3) and the closing sheet metal (1) are 3.6 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.1417 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.).
   (3) Make sure that out-of-flush dimension A1 between the APF (2) and the closing sheet metal (1) is 0 +0.6 mm or -0.6 mm (0.0000 +0.0236 in. or -0.0236 in.).
   (4) Make sure that out-of-flush dimension A2 between the RPF (3) and the closing sheet metal (1) is 0 +0.6 mm or -0.6 mm (0.0000 +0.0236 in. or -0.0236 in.).
   (5) Make sure that out-of-flush dimension A3 between the RPF (3) and the closing sheet metal (1) is -1.1 +0.6 mm or -0.6 mm (-0.0433 +0.0236 in. or -0.0236 in.).

A. Reactivation of the Thrust Reverser
   (1) Make the thrust reverser serviceable after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-805).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
