3. Job Set-up
Subtask 54-52-00-941-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 410
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 420.
   (2) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-52-11-000-002):
     (a) For the left pylon: 413AL
     (b) For the right pylon: 423AL.
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-52-00-350-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Repair of the CAF4 Sealant
F CAF4 Sealant - Pylon Cantilever ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Before you do the repair of the CAF4 sealant:
  • do a check for leaks of the sealant in the area that has contamination and in the adjacent area.
   (2) If you find leaks, do a repair of the CAF4 sealant.
   (3) Repair of the CAF4 sealant.
     (a) In the areas where you can easily get access:
       1 Use a scraper to remove the old sealant that has contamination plus 10 mm (0.3937 in.) all around the area.
       2 Clean with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Naphta based and Alcohol - (Material No.08BBC1) .
       3 Remove the grease with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
NOTE: If there is contamination by kerozene, after you have removed the sealant, clean the area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
     (b) In the areas where you cannot easily get access:
       1 Clean the sealant with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Naphta based and Alcohol - (Material No.08BBC1) .
       2 Remove the grease with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
     (c) Apply Silicone Adhesive Sealant-General Purpose One part legacy (Material No.06CMD9) on the repair areas.
NOTE: To do this, refer to the supplier technical data-sheet.
5. Close-up
Subtask 54-52-00-440-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Make the thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-081-041).
Subtask 54-52-00-440-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Make the thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-012).
Subtask 54-52-00-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-52-11-400-002):
     (a) For the left pylon: 413AL
     (b) For the right pylon: 423AL.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
