3. Job Set-up
Subtask 54-52-11-941-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zone 410
(b) For the right pylon, in zone 420.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.

(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

4. Procedure
Subtask 54-52-11-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of the Access Panels

Access Panels ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

NOTE: The procedure is the same for all the access panels:

For the left pylon: 413AL 413CL 413DL 413EL 414AR 414CR
For the right pylon: 423AL 423CL 423DL 424ER 424AR 424CR.

(1) Hold the access panel (1).
(2) Remove the screws (3) and and the washers (2).
(3) Remove the access panels (1).
(4) Hold the access panel (4).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

(5) Remove the screws (6), (7) and the washers (5).
(6) Remove the access panel (4).
