A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Open the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (3) Remove the engines (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-000-040) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-000-042).
   (4) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 415
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 425.

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser

   (1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Open the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (3) Remove the engines (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-20-000-040).
   (4) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
     (a) For the left pylon, in zone 415
     (b) For the right pylon, in zone 425.

F. Removal of the Components
   (1) For the inspection of the hole type B:
     (a) Remove the self-locking nuts and the bolts from the holes to be inspected. Refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 514200.
     (b) Discard the self-locking nuts.

G. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , if necessary.
   (2) Make sure that the surface of the inspection area is clean and smooth.
   (3) Do a visual check of the inspection area for damage or discontinuities.
   (4) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
- If you find corrosion damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for types of corrosion, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
- If you find this type of damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for damage classification and corrective action.
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-51-00-280-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection (ROTO) of the forward attachment bolt holes of the end of the lower arms. This inspection is applicable aft of RIB1. Refer to Non-destructive Testing Manual NTM 545102.
     (a) For the inspection of the hole types B:
Do the inspection on each side of each pylon.
     (b) Contact Airbus if you find signs of damage before repair.
   (2) Make a report of damage after the NDT inspection:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
- If you find corrosion damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for types of corrosion, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
- If you find this type of damage, refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for damage classification and corrective action.
5. Close-up

A. Installation of the Components
   (1) After inspection of the hole type B:
     (a) Install the bolts and the new self-locking nuts of the inspected holes. Refer to Structural Repair Manual SRM 514200.
     (b) Refer to the installation drawing in the SRM identification section for the new fastener references.
     (c) TORQUE the self-locking nuts to between 4.64 and 3.87 m.daN (34.22 and 28.54 lbf.ft ) T.
