A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
(3) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2) Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3) Set the LIGHT control switch 11LJ to the on position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 49-91-42-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of the Magnetic Drain Plug
(1) Remove the magnetic element (3) from the plug (1).
(2) Remove the O-ring (2) from the magnetic element (3). Discard the O-ring.
(3) Drain the oil from the gearbox (Ref. AMM TASK 49-90-00-600-005).

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

(4) Removal of the Lockwire:

remove the lockwire and remove the plug portion (1) from the gearbox.

(5) Remove the preformed packing (4) from the plug (1). Discard the preformed packing.
