C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
   (2) Open the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (3) Set the LIGHT control switch 11LJ to the on position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 49-81-00-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Disassemble for Access
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Remove the lockwire from the upper and lower halves of the heat insulation (1) and (2), remove the heat insulation halves.
   (2) Remove the clamp (3) from the exhaust hot nozzle assy. and APU exhaust duct.
   (3) Loosen the nut of the muffler drain-line and disconnect the drain line.
   (4) Remove the APU exhaust access-fairing 317AL (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-18-000-001).
   (5) Remove the cotter pins, the castle-nuts, the bolts, the washers and the bushing from the exhaust muffler.
   (6) Pull the exhaust muffler rearwards to get an sufficient clearence between the APU duct and the muffler duct.
   (7) Pull the hot nozzle and bellows assy (7) in FWD direction.
Subtask 49-81-00-210-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Visual Inspection
   (1) Examine the V-clamp for distortion, cracks, thread damage or heat discoloration. Replace if defective (Ref. AIPC 49-81-04-01-090).
   (2) Examine the exhaust duct (portion inside the APU compartment) for damage, cracks and discoloration. If the exhaust duct is found to be defective replace the exhaust muffler (Ref. AMM TASK 49-81-41-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-81-41-400-002).
   (3) Examine the inner and outer areas of the hot nozzle assembly for distortion, wear and damage. Replace if defective (Ref. AIPC 49-81-41-01-010).
   (4) Inspect the insulation blankets (1) and (2) for cracks and missing material. Replace the insulation halves if found defective AIPC 49-81-04-01-033 INSULATION BRACKET (1) and/or AIPC 49-81-04-01-037 INSULATION BRACKET (2).
   (5) Use a hand mirror and examine as far as possible, the piston ring for distortion, wear and damage. If the piston ring is defective replace the exhaust muffler (
Ref. AMM TASK 49-81-41-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-81-41-400-002).
5. Close-up
Subtask 49-81-00-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Assemble for Close Access
   (1) Push the exhaust muffler forward on the guide rails.
   (2) Attach the exhaust muffler with the bolts, the bushing, the washers and the castle-nuts.
   (3) TORQUE the castle-nuts to between 2.2 and 1.95 m.daN (16.22 and 14.38 lbf.ft ) T.
   (4) Install the cotter pins (Ref. AIPC 49-81-04-01-080).
   (5) Install the APU exhaust access fairing 317AL (
Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-18-400-001).
   (6) Push the hot nozzle/bellows assembly forward until the hot nozzle flange touches the APU exhaust duct flange.
   (7) Adjust the hot nozzle flange radially to the APU exhaust duct flange. The radial offset should be 0 +4 -4 mm (0.0 +0.16 -0.16 in.).
   (8) Position the clamp (3) on the exhaust coupling flanges with the lockbolts in the 3 and 9 o'clock position.
   (9) Secure the V-clamp (3). Torque the clamp lockbolts
   (10) Install the heat insulation upper (1) and lower (2) halves, connect the two halves with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (11) Connect the two halves with corrosion-resistant steel lockwire 0.8mm (0.032in.) to the hot nozzle assembly studs.
