Removal of the APU Exhaust Access-Fairing
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE EXHAUST MUFFLER IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE EXHAUST ACCESS FAIRING OF THE APU. THIS WILL PREVENT BURNS.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to start the APU.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT) in position below the tail cone.

A. Removal of the APU Exhaust Access-Fairing 317AL
(2) Hold the fairing (1) and disconnect the electrical connectors (3) and (4) from the tail navigation-light transformer 13LA and the tail cone strobe-light 19LV.
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Remove the screw (6), the washer (7) and the nut (9) and disconnect the bonding strap (8) from the fairing (1).
(5) If necessary, remove the tail navigation light 15LA (Ref. AMM TASK 33-41-15-000-001).
(6) If necessary, remove the tail cone strobe-light 19LV (Ref. AMM TASK 33-48-13-000-001).
(7) If necessary, remove the tail navigation-light transformer 13LA (Ref. AMM TASK 33-41-16-000-001).
NOTE: In the subsequent procedure the APU exhaust access-fairing 317AL is referred to as fairing.
(1) Release the five stud nuts (2) and carefully remove the fairing (1) from the tail cone (11). (2) Hold the fairing (1) and disconnect the electrical connectors (3) and (4) from the tail navigation-light transformer 13LA and the tail cone strobe-light 19LV.
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Remove the screw (6), the washer (7) and the nut (9) and disconnect the bonding strap (8) from the fairing (1).
(5) If necessary, remove the tail navigation light 15LA (Ref. AMM TASK 33-41-15-000-001).
(6) If necessary, remove the tail cone strobe-light 19LV (Ref. AMM TASK 33-48-13-000-001).
(7) If necessary, remove the tail navigation-light transformer 13LA (Ref. AMM TASK 33-41-16-000-001).
