Fuel Filter Element - Removal/Installation (APS 3200)

A. Safety Precautions.
(1) Obey the Fuel Safety Procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(2) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
(3) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4) Make sure that ground fire extinguishing equipment is available.
(5) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Gain Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2) Open the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2) Open the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
Subtask 49-32-11-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Filter Housing/Element - Removal
(1) Put the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) in position below the fuel filter housing (6).
(2) Grasp the filter housing (6), turn it anti-clockwise and remove it.
(3) Let the fuel from the fuel filter housing (6) drain into the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL).
(4) Remove the filter element (5) from the fuel filter housing (6).
(5) Discard the element (5) and the packing (4).
(6) Tip the residual fuel from the housing (6) into the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL).
(7) Remove and discard packing (3).
(8) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the fuel filter orifice of the fuel control unit (1).
Subtask 49-32-11-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) in position below the fuel filter housing (6).
(2) Grasp the filter housing (6), turn it anti-clockwise and remove it.
(3) Let the fuel from the fuel filter housing (6) drain into the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL).
(4) Remove the filter element (5) from the fuel filter housing (6).
(5) Discard the element (5) and the packing (4).
(6) Tip the residual fuel from the housing (6) into the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL).
(7) Remove and discard packing (3).
(8) Put a CAP - BLANKING on the fuel filter orifice of the fuel control unit (1).
B. Filter Preparation
(1) Examine the fuel filter housing (6) for damage.
(2) Lubricate the new AIPC 49-32-11-50-040 PACKING (4) and AIPC 49-32-11-50-020 PACKING (3) with
Turbine Fuel-- Wide-cut - (Material No.01ABC1) or Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene High Flash Point - (Material No.01ABB1) .
(3) Install the new packing (4) on the new AIPC 49-32-11-50-030 FILTER ELEMENT (5).
(4) Install the new packing (3) in the filter orifice of the fuel control unit (1).
(5) Locate the new filter element (5) on the filter port of the fuel control unit (1).
(6) Install the fuel filter housing (6) on the fuel control unit (1).
Subtask 49-32-11-865-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Examine the fuel filter housing (6) for damage.
(2) Lubricate the new AIPC 49-32-11-50-040 PACKING (4) and AIPC 49-32-11-50-020 PACKING (3) with
Turbine Fuel-- Wide-cut - (Material No.01ABC1) or Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene High Flash Point - (Material No.01ABB1) .
(3) Install the new packing (4) on the new AIPC 49-32-11-50-030 FILTER ELEMENT (5).
(4) Install the new packing (3) in the filter orifice of the fuel control unit (1).
(5) Locate the new filter element (5) on the filter port of the fuel control unit (1).
(6) Install the fuel filter housing (6) on the fuel control unit (1).
NOTE: The filter housing (6) should be turned clockwise until it is hand tight.
(7) Press the fuel-filter differential-pressure indicator-plug (2A) inwards until it is flush with the housing (2). C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Purge the air from the APU fuel line (Ref. AMM TASK 28-22-00-710-001).
Subtask 49-32-11-790-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: When the fuel from the drain hose flows out free of air, release the fuel vent pushbutton.
E. Leak Test
(1) Clean and dry the fuel control unit (1) and the filter housing (6) with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(2) Start the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-005).
(3) Examine the fuel control unit (1) and the filter housing (6) for leaks.
5. Close-up(1) Clean and dry the fuel control unit (1) and the filter housing (6) with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(2) Start the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-005).
(3) Examine the fuel control unit (1) and the filter housing (6) for leaks.
NOTE: No leaks are permitted.
(4) Stop the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-006). Subtask 49-32-11-410-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

(2) Close the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
