A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Obey the Fuel Safety Precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On the overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (ON legend is off).
   (3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the APU.
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

D. Get Access
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
   (1) Make sure that the 98L12003001000 HARNESS,SAFETY is put and attached before you start work in the work area.
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
   (3) Make sure that APU access doors 315AL and 316AR are open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (4) Make sure that the light switch 11LJ is in the ON position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 49-23-51-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the IGV Actuator
CAUTION: -YOU MUST NOT INCREASE THE TIGHTENING TORQUE MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM VALUE.
  • APPLY ALL TIGHTENING TORQUES WITH A TORQUE WRENCH OR A CALIBRATED SCREWDRIVER.
CAUTION: DO NOT TORQUE THE V-CLAMP(S) TO MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED VALUE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLANGE SURFACES.
   (1) Put the V-band clamp (4) in position on the APU mounting flange.
   (2) Position the actuator alignment pin with the hole in the mounting flange and install the actuator (1).
   (3) Secure the clamp (4).
   (4) Install the quick disconnect pin (6) in the actuator support (5).
or
Install the quick disconnect pin (6) in the actuator support (5) and install the bracket (8) with the srew (9).
   (5) Install the tubes (3), (10) and (11) on the actuator (1).
   (6) TORQUE the tube connector (3) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN ) T.
   (7) TORQUE the tube connectors (10) and (11) to between 200 and 180 lbf.in (2.26 and 2.03 m.daN )
T.
   (8) TORQUE the V-band clamp (4) to between 44 and 36 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.41 m.daN )
T.
   (9) Make sure that the actuator and the IGV's are connected, move the IGV's to the fully closed position.
   (10) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (11) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (12) Install the electrical connector P21 (2) to the actuator (1).
   (13) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Do the operational test of the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-710-008).
   (1) Do a check for leaks on the inlet guide-vane actuator and the fuel tube connections.
NOTE: Leaks are not permitted.
5. Close-up
Subtask 49-23-51-410-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Set the light switch 11LJ to the OFF position.
   (3) Close APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the safety harness.

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
