A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
   (3) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Get Access
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
   (1) Put on and attach a safety harness before you start work in the work area
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below the APU compartment.
   (3) Open the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (4) Set the LIGHT control switch 11LJ to the on position.
   (5) Open access door 314AR and safety it in the open position.
(Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-23-010-801).
   (6) Set the light switch to on.
4. Procedure
Subtask 49-16-42-020-051-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Air Intake Duct
   (1) Remove the air intake flap (Ref. AMM TASK 49-16-43-000-002).
   (2) Remove the air intake nose (Ref. AMM TASK 49-16-44-000-002).
   (3) Remove and disassemble the seal assembly as follows:
     (a) Remove the screws (15) and (18).
     (b) Disengage the seal assembly from the air intake duct (1).
     (c) Remove the bolts (4) and the washers (5).
     (d) Remove the bolts (20) and the washers (21).
     (e) Disengage the flange (8) from the seal (7) and from the frame (6) and remove the distance washers (22).
     (f) Disengage the seal (7) from the frame (6).
   (4) Remove and disassemble the top flange and the bottom flange as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolts (14) and the washers (13).
     (b) Remove the screws (16) and (17).
     (c) Remove the bolts (9), washers (10) and nuts (12).
     (d) Remove the top flange (11) and the bottom flange (19) from the air intake duct (1).
     (e) Remove the bolts (23) and the washers (24) to disengage the top flange (11) from the bottom flange (19).
   (5) Hold the air intake duct (1) and remove the bolts (2) and the washers (3).
   (6) Remove the air intake duct (1).
