Installation of the Vacuum Generator


WARNING: DO NOT DO WORK ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.
WARNING: ALWAYS USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK:
  • ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, OR
  • ON PARTS THAT HAVE CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE SYSTEM.
WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE WORK PROCEDURE, CLEAN YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER. THIS WILL PREVENT INFECTION (TOILET WASTE IS DANGEROUS FOR HEALTH).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized from the external power (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

C. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Inspect the vacuum line between the vacuum generator and the water separator for contamination.
   (2) Remove the vacuum line and clean it with warm soap water.
   (3) If there is contamination, do these steps as follows:
     (a) Remove and clean the LLT reference line (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-100-009).
     (b) Do the servicing of the water separator (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-67-610-001).
     (c) Clean the waste holding tank (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-100-003).
NOTE: It is recommended that you do these steps also if there is no contamination.
4. Procedure
Subtask 38-31-64-420-050-B
A. Installation of the Vacuum Generator 37MG
   (1) Put the vacuum generator (5) 37MG in position.
   (2) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength - (Material No.05BAA1) to the bolts (3).
   (3) Install the washers (4) and the bolts (3).
   (4) Put the bonding strap (9) in position and install the bolt (8), the washer (10) and the nut (11) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (5) Tighten the bolts (3).
   (6) Put the hose (6) in position and install the clamps (7).
   (7) Put the hose (13) in position and install the clamps (12).
   (8) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (9) Make sure that a correct water drip-loop is made when the connectors are connected.
   (10) Connect the electrical connectors (1) 37MG-B and (2) 37MG-A.
   (11) Make sure that the connectors are correctly connected and locked in position.

B. Preparation for Test

   (1) Fill the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-15-38-613-001).
   (2) Pressurize the potable system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001).

   (1) Do the leak test of the vacuum toilet system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-790-003).

E. Do this test.
ACTION
RESULT
1.In a lavatory:
  • push the flush switch 51MG.
In the vacuum toilet system:
  • the vacuum generator 37MG starts to operate
  • approx. 0.2 l (0.0528 USgal) of water flows into the toilet bowl
  • air flows out of the ventilation port of the vacuum generator
  • the toilet flush valve opens and the suction removes the water.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install access panels 161DW 162DW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-400-001).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-004).

B. De-energize the ground service network
